Gleni has collected together in one post all the trends for this season, to help everybody who wants to know about the latest fashions in clothes, hair styles, handbags, colours and the alternatives.
We hope that you find these tips and insights interesting and helpful and enjoy reading
10 Trends For This Season
Let’s start from the feet up: shoes. Ankle-boots and pumps are right back in; both with strictly rounded toes and heels that are vertiginous to say the least, not less than 13 cm! There are many new styles for both types of shoes, like the gothic style that we saw during Paris Fashion Week: with just the right amount of eccentricity and originality!
This season our legs will flaunt ultra-decorated tights: many colours and fantastic patterns, tartan and geometric designs, everything goes, and if you prefer something more classic and romantic, we suggest you go for lace tights, black for preference: the ultimate in elegance and sex appeal!
If you don’t like wearing skirts and prefer keeping your legs warm and covered up, you can relax: our favorite bootcut trousers are back. Black and elegant, jeans or even fleece for the sporty; but they shouldn’t be too wide at the hem!
Another must-have for this season are blouses, white or with thin stripes, trimmed with bows, frills and scarves, you can have plenty of fun mixing and matching!
What about the hands? The French manicure is still alive and well, but the form and length of nails has now changed. Completely OUT are too long and squared nails, a medium length and a rounded shape is best. Colors are strong and striking: black, purple, all shades of red and dark blue will be the colors you see everywhere (just turn on the tv and see!). Our advice is not to overdo it, or you’ll look rather over-the-top!
In the make-up realm, straight from the catwalks, we have the intriguing “smoky-eyes” look, the blended shading which focuses attention on your eyes. Eye shadow all around the eye or just above, in strong colors, especially black and even better with some glittery or light colors (like beige, white or a light brown),which create a contrasting effect to give movement, attracting interest like a magnet. Colors like shocking pink or bright green for the eyelid are excellent if you are feeling daring and want to attract attention! Another great combination is using black with colors such as silver and anthracite to create highlights and beautiful chiaroscuro effects for a really seductive and dramatic look!
Handbags bring you infinite possibilities: big 70s style bags with big pockets on the inside and outside, for plenty of space, or the new-age hippy ethnic look, a glossy, luxurious ’60s style, in bold colors for elegant women, and soft. structured handbags, very modish in leather; the colors: purple, grey, white, lilac, and blue, even trimmed with lace (which you can match to your tights if you want!).

Google just released their list of top searches this week and Kim Kardashian is at the top !
Normally you’d expect Britney Spears, Beyonce, or even Michael Jackson to nab the top spot but Kim Kardashian ..that’s some new ish’.
Before we start twitching our side-eyes we must look at Kardashian’s year. After her now pre-historic sex tape sold for six-plus figures the socialite nabbed her own reality show in 2008; upgraded from Ray J to NFL player Reggie Bush and took a nice check from ABC’s Dancing With The Stars among a few other things like her ‘flying off the shelf like hotcakes’ 2009 calendar.
I guess congratulations are in order for Ms. Kardashian… 2008s most Googled celebrity ! (Britney Spears, Angelina Jolie, and Heath Ledger also made the cut).

While the Lunari collection offers drop-gorgeous earrings and rings boasting bold and accented looks blending black gold with black diamonds and multi-hued gemstones, its Geode collection ‘ups’ the style quotient with its sumptuous stud earrings and ring collection featuring white and rose gold settings with white diamonds, pink sapphires, yellow sapphires and amethysts. In its third collection, Young Chic, Hafner presents a delicate and charming range of necklaces and rings in a combination of white gold and white diamonds, designed to fete a young woman’s foray into adulthood.
“Stefan Hafner’s three new collections are a splendid assertion of his acclaimed design prowess that succeeds in springing a surprise element time and again. In Lunari, Geode and Young Chic Hafner presents jewels boasting bright coloured stones with gold of various hues such as white, rose and even black gold displaying an adventurous spirit,” said Mr. Tawhid Abdullah, Managing Director, Damas Jewellery.
Lunari, as the name indicates is a collection inspired by the moon’s timeless beauty where Hafner aptly reflects its mysterious allure in a blend of black gold, black diamonds, and flame coloured orange sapphires, rubies, amethyst cabochon, fire opal cabochon and citrine cabochon. Curvaceous and smooth lines offer rings that are tactile delights while being visually riveting. Its drop earrings fall in bewitching splendour from very unusual designs gracing the wearer’s ear lobes.
Hafner’s Geode collection on the other hand pays ode to the beauty of geodes, the hollow, spheroidal rocks bearing crystals and other precious or semi-precious stones. In its stud earrings and dramatic rings, white and rose gold partner white diamonds, pink and yellow sapphires with amethysts to recreate the raw beauty of geodes.
In its Young Chic collection Stefan Hafner assembles delicate round diamond brilliants and pear-shaped diamonds in effortless, flowing lines offering winsome necklaces and rings for the young woman.

Shenzhen City recently hosted the Third International Brand Underwear Fair from April 11 to 13, which saw participation by popular foreign brands like DIM from French underwear industry.
Yang Shibing, leader of China Knitting Industrial Association urged manufacturers to make the best out of local underwear industrial base, international brands underwear fair and such other opportunities to develop their regional brand.
It has been observed that due to rising cost of land and labor cost, some of the crucial orders of Shenzhen underwear industry were lost to Shanghai City and Shantou City of Guangdong Province.
Shenzhen City will now focus on brand innovation to tap the top-grade underwear market. Already, market for this particular industry in the city is developing at a pace of 20 percent annually.
In a bid to revolutionize the underwear sector and develop a niche in the domestic and international market, more than 60 enterprises of Shenzhen City will unite to set up an Underwear Industrial Association before the end of this year.

Nelly here is adjusting well to life without a heavy chain around her neck ... and warm blankies and butt scratches and - dog help her - antlers. She's one special creature.
I'm still pondering the people we met last week as I throw in another load of laundry from our surreal mission to the great plains. Life likes to throw curve balls every now and then just to see if we're paying attention, and one of those came in the form of an email from an Oklahoma dog trainer in early December who wrote to let us know that nearly one hundred dogs had been found starving on chains in dropping temperatures. News Clip. Could we help? I wrote back, "Who's in charge?" The reply, "Who's in charge? They've never dealt with anything like this before. At this time they are trying to make it so the dogs stay living." Smack! Curve ball, right upside the head.
The sheriffs of Kay County were in a bit of shock still after watching dogs drop dead at their feet. Once the perp was in jail, they had the messy problem of deciding what to do with the survivors. Peta encouraged them to kill every last one - natch - while much of the public was crying 'Murder!' for headlines that suggested they were going to do just that.
Oklahoma has a sad history when it comes to animal abuse cases including hoarders and puppy mills. There are no licensing or inspection requirements, and zero agencies assigned to oversee large scale breeding operations. No wonder Jerry Southern set up shop in OK once he was banned from owning pit bulls in Kansas.
The Oklahoma Alliance for Animals knew that, based on prior cases, Southern's pit bulls could very well end up in all the wrong hands. So they smartly requested - and won - custody of all the surviving dogs. When Ruth Steinberger told her board they now owned several dozen homeless and starving pit bulls, their first question was obvious: "What are we going to do with them all?" Oklahoma had never saved pit bulls from a cruelty case before, and things started getting extra messy when local papers put out a general plea for help. Phones were ringing off the hook as well-intentioned folks from all corners offered to jump in and take dogs home. That was right around the time that we met Ruth, who was having a very bad couple of days. No, we can't take 90+ dogs I said, but we can help decide which lucky few can go into limited but reputable rescue slots.
The immediate problem was that Kay County doesn't have an animal shelter, the dogs were exposed and the weather was taking a turn for the worse. Local volunteers were essential in their survival: they trucked in food and straw to feed and insulate the plastic barrels the dogs called home. But theft and disreputable 'help' was as big a concern as the dropping temperatures, so decisions had to happen FAST.
This is where we call for disaster relief assistance. Could someone please (please?) bring in quick reinforcements so the dogs could get out of the cold, if only for a short time so they can be evaluated? Messages went out to all the large orgs. The HSUS said "No," citing a poor economy as their reason for staying home. Everyone's Best Friends waved a quick "Yes!" for transport help, and Homeward Bound Humane Society offered up a small but cozy spay/neuter van to help us get out of the wind. All we had to do was buy some winter gear and we were set.
We had to hop inside a small window of decent weather so we could get to know the dogs while they were relatively warm. Once selections were made, it was fast work to take them back off of their chains for good, weigh them in the screaming wind and spay/neuter them onsite in the crowded trailer. Since this rescue was such a precedent for OK, it was only right that OAA make sure the dogs were fixed before turning ownership over to rescue. This is when we witnessed the miracle of Dr. Terry Yunker and his vet tech Nancy. Yunker's an Oklahoma vet with a passion for curbing the overpopulation problem. He did a series of fast surgeries before our eyes in some of the most extreme conditions you can imagine: unforgiving winds, freezing temperaments, nowhere for the dogs to recover but our cars with engines running and heat vents set on full blast. I'm a huge new fan of the cool and composed Dr. Terry.
We're also big fans of the local lawmen: Under Sheriff Kelly and Sheriff Landis. Both were honestly surprised to see so much fuss going towards helping pit bulls, but - we reminded them - that's what happens when you put out a call for help. Pit bull people are like that. To simplify this fast-track mission, BR accepted responsibility for all the rescued dogs from OAA, then transferred ownership over to three orgs: the up and coming Mid-America Bully Breed Rescue who helped immensely with the rescue; to a second rescue who's asked to remain nameless for now; and - a surprise - to open-admission Berkeley Animal Care Services (More later on the wonderful happenings in Berkeley that inspired shelter workers to say 'Yes' to Oklahoma bust dogs.)
I don't know how we managed to do what we did at the farm - the rescues as well as the euthanasias. The conditions were so horrible and the dogs were so brave despite their neglect and mistreatment. I'm still choking back that big ugly cry that needs to come out...(It'll probably wait until the Sports Illustrated buzz wears off and I hear some sappy music in some terribly inconvenient setting). Fearing more criticism from both sides of the fence, the authorities have requested that we not disclose the number of dogs that were rescued, but let's just say "an impressive number" of lucky dogs made it out. Let's just say that what happened was a miracle - because it really was. (Repeat: Slideshow)
Two sheriffs, a vet and vet tech, five rescuers, an animal activist from Oklahoma and two diehard drivers from Best Friends (left). We may never see each other again, but for that one weekend, the dogs made sure we were at our best. It's just another reason to fall even more in love with this breed.
Please consider sending thanks to the orgs that helped these dogs.
Under Sheriff Kelly and Sheriff Landis would probably love getting New Year's greetings. They deserve to hear that they did the right thing.

Make-Up As a Profession
Does the variety of make-up that you see in the departmental store enthrall you? Do you love giving make-up suggestions to your near and dear ones? Do you love keeping in touch with the latest trends in make-up? If your answer to these questions is 'Yes', if you have an inherent passion for applying make-up and a flair for it, then a career as a make-up artist might be just the right choice for you. And that is what this article is all about.
What it Involves
The most important prerequisite for the profession of a make-up artist is a lot of creativity and imaginative power. This would help the artist in visualizing what style would look good on a certain person, and in developing new styles. A careful eye for detail and concentration would also be prerequisites in this profession. A passion for make-up and an interest in traditional as well as contemporary make-up styles is very crucial.
Good communication and networking skills would be other must-have qualities, especially if one plans to work freelance. A good business sense and diplomacy would also help to a significant extent. Punctuality and reliability, a highly professional attitude in other words, would be a must to build up a reputation as an artist.
Becoming a make-up artist involves long hours of work in studios as well as in outdoor locations. This makes it essential for the artist to have the ability to work under pressure, as well a high degree of physical and mental fitness.
As is the case with any career, the initial days involve a lot of struggle. To cope up with this, it is necessary for the artist to have a lot of patience and strong determination.
The profession of a make-up artist might require him or her to travel on occasions or frequently. Hence, one of the prerequisites of this profession is a willingness to travel. In case sufficient client base is not available within the area in which the make-up artist plans to operate, traveling would become inevitable.
How to Go About it
Before going about beginning a career as a professional make-up artist, it would be advisable to undertake thorough research about the field. It is necessary to undertake a careful study of the particular geographical area in which the person intends to establish himself or herself. This would give a fair idea of the level of competition that would be involved, as well as the client base in that area.
The pay that a make-up artist would get depends largely upon his or her skill, as well as on the type of clientele. Research would help in getting an idea of the financial possibilities in the area.
It would be advisable for a potential make-up artist to prepare a portfolio, containing a few samples of his or her work. This portfolio would be of great help to a beginner in securing work, if showcased at strategic locations.
One important decision to be taken by a potential make-up artist is whether to go for a freelance job or join an employer. Both these forms have their own benefits and pitfalls, and the decision would ultimately depend upon the liking of the individual. Joining an employer would comparatively involve less risk, but afford comparatively less freedom to the employee. On the other hand, working freelance would allow for greater flexibility, but the risk involved would also be greater.
In case the make-up artist decides to work under an employer, there are several alternatives available, such as beauty parlours, cosmetic companies, advertising agencies, film production companies, magazines, or fashion designers, among others.

We've come a long way, baby!
Most pit bull owners know that in '87, Sports Illustrated went for the worst kind of cheap thrill by running this provocative cover story. The decision to titillate America back then about our still-rare breed set the dogs down a dangerous path. Within months, they were the 'in' dog for the bad guys, and the rest is history. So when SI writer Jim Gorant contacted us in mid-October about a follow up on the Vick dogs, we were skeptical to say the least. Never one to hold back, Jonny Justice's adopter Cris Cohen told him point blank, "You owe us the cover." But the hard-to-read Gorant was non-committal. We really didn't know what they were going to do to our dogs.
It was clear that Jim and his editors were intrigued with this story though, especially when their wonderful photographer Deanne Fitzmaurice kept returning for additional photo sessions. Things started looking good when they asked for family portraits of the dogs in their homes, and then, of Jonny working as a therapy dog in the Paws for Tales reading program.
We're as surprised as anyone to finally see the fruits of their labor: Five pages of in-depth, well written copy, good clean quotes, beautiful family portraits, and the best of all...The cover shot, highlighting Recycled Love's shy little sweetheart, Sweet Jasmine.
SI Online Story and Photo Gallery
Thank you for giving the dogs back to us, Jim. Steeling ourselves against the public disdain heaped against these wonderful animals sure takes its toll, and you just softened us all up for one the happiest Christmases we can remember.
The Sports Illustrated issue about the Vick dogs will be on newsstands starting Christmas Eve and available for two weeks. Grab a few copies for your coffee table and for your files. I tellya...this 'zine is a welcome piece of history for our breed.

'Spirit' star Eva Mendes talks about nudity, Scarlett Johannson & Jennifer Lopez
0 comments Posted by pece at 11:09 AMIn an interview with Moviefone, she says Scarlett Johannson is sweet, maternal and amazingly sexy. She reveals that she finds nudity beauriful and tasteful — but only on a natural body. And she thanks Jennifer Lopez for breaking stereotypes about Latino women and opening a lot of doors.
Here are some excerpts from the interview:
About working with Scarlett Johannson:
She's very sweet, and she's very maternal. And of course, she has this amazing look of just being completely, not only beautiful, but extremely, extremely sexy. She just oozes sexuality. Yet there is such a maternal quality in her that is so beautiful that I think people would be kind of surprised and impressed by. And she's smart, but I think you can tell that she's smart. She's a smart cookie.
About that Calvin Klein ad and nudity in general:
I think we're a bit conservative when it comes to nudity and sexuality. And it's so funny because I'd much rather see a beautiful nude of a woman than see these girls with these Triple-D fake boobs in a bikini. To me, that's more vulgar than seeing a beautiful nude of a natural body. ... I'm not against fake breasts at all; I'm not against augmentation. But I think when you get to that point of vulgarity where it's not in proportion, that's more vulgar to me than a beautiful nude.
On nudity in films:
If I'm going to be emotionally naked, sometimes a script will call for me to be physically naked as well. I would never frown upon it. And I think in Hollywood some actresses do frown upon it. They say it like an honor: "I would never do nudity!" And it's like, oh come on! I'm an actress, you know, I'll do what it takes to make my part as honest as it can be.
On Latinos being underrepresented in Hollywood (and how Jennifer Lopez is helping to change that):
When I started in the business 10 years ago, it was pretty pathetic as far as every time I went out for a role in an audition, they really did ask me to do it with a Spanish accent. And I did because I needed work and I was starting out. And there were hardly any roles. But I think I've seen so much progress in the last 10 years... in the last 5 years. ... I have to thank people like Jennifer Lopez, who is definitely a beautiful Latin woman, but she's American. I think she was a pioneer as far as breaking down those stereotypical walls, and I think it's getting better and better as far as the quality roles, absolutely. Now I just need to see more Asian people being represented.

Delightful, Romantic & New : Three Words For Next Up Coming Spring / Summer Season
0 comments Posted by pece at 3:18 AMChic serenity - Exquisite taste and romantic naughtiness: tricot bonds with satin and becomes similar to lace, cotton plumetis is gathered and decorated with bows, openwork light jersey mixes with Lurex, silk net marries shirt-stripe woven fabric, modal is embroidered, microfibre blossoms in hydrangeas and tiny roses. Minimal corsetry and simple nightwear, sometimes with a backstage feel. Snow white, sage, mauve and pastels for florals. He chooses seamless jersey, ribbed cotton, pastel-striped yarn-dyed fabric, Lycra with romantic flowers. Figure-hugging briefs, trunks and T-shirts with pyjamas to match.
Country “routes” - Where posies and narrow shirt stripes abound. Underwear for a chaste trousseau in cotton Lycra and muslin and in pink, white and pale blue. Different patterns and pieces mix and match, such as the narrow-striped briefs with the pansy-printed top, the upholstery-stripe bra with men's flowery boxers. More stripes for him, too, and a revival of large and small checks in sugary pastels. Together with bolder-coloured jersey boxers with contrast stitching and elastic for a sporty look.
Ironic gallery - Kangaroos, butterflies and ducks in full-colour central prints or as positive/negative decorative motifs: a little fun for grown-ups and tiny tots, in purple, periwinkle, pink and grey for soft cotton pyjamas and minimalist underwear. Mother and daughter also have the choice of punched, mottled jersey night- and home-wear decorated with snapshots of Sophie, the seasonal mascot straight from the Sixties. Pieces that travel alone or in the company of others or jersey details with pastel mega-dots, very Sixties.
Beachwear Collection
Vibrant and dynamic under the summer sun: Undercolors swimwear doesn't do half-measures. Bright, scrumptious colours, basic models with glamorous touches, the nautical spirit in different shapes from minimal bikinis to seductive one-pieces. He's very much more classic, although his colours and patterns are nonetheless exuberant.

Hi! Laura here. I am here to take you on a little tour of our yard in North Idaho in the winter. You see, yesterday morning I woke up to find snow on the ground -- nothing too bad, but it didn't look like it was letting up any time soon. Last night I left work and my car, after being parked in one place for about 9 hours, had about 10-inches (or more!) of snow on it. Needless to say, it took me awhile to clean it off! The snow continued to fall, but I wasn't sure how bad it would be.
This morning I was awakened by my dad who informed me that my chances of getting to work this morning were slim. I couldn't believe my eyes when I looked outside to see an additional foot or more of snow in our yard. And it hasn't stopped since. Schools (even the colleges!) are closed and "they" (law enforcement people, TV broadcasters, etc.) are saying to stay home if you don't have somewhere you HAVE to be. So, after talking to my boss, I am taking a snow day today.
Granted, I love snow days. . .but today I am slightly bored. You see, I don't have any homework to do, and I would love to be outside playing, but I can't seem to find my snow pants! Plus, I wasn't expecting to have nothing to do today. Too bad we aren't getting this major white-ness on Christmas. Oh well, we're going to have a White Christmas -- this stuff isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
Don't believe me? Let me take you on a little tour of our yard (all pictures were taken from the comfort of the house). This was taken early this morning -- a picture of our deck.
There was almost 22 inches of snow this morning. I haven't measured since, but I know there is now a lot more. The beehives were buried in snow, and my dad had to dig some space around them so that the bees wouldn't suffocate. I think it looks like the hives are wearing little hats. :-)
Looking out one of the windows in my parents' room. This is the air conditioner, and it, too, is wearing a little hat.
Looking out my brother's window, to the right.
And looking out his window to the left. Some trees in our front yard -- all covered in snow!
Isn't our backyard beautiful? It just keeps on falling. Stay tuned -- chances are there will be more pictures later!!

While filming an upcoming episode of the Osbourne's new variety show, Osbourned Uploaded (an Osbourne's reality show? Sounds riveting) Pammy had one of those pesky planned wardrobe malfunctions. During a skit called "Guess the Guest" the Osbourne were blindfolded and Pamela was sprawled on the ground (nobody explains why she was on the ground---I guess we'll just have to watch the show and find out! Not.) and when she jolted up, exposed her stretched, ballooned mammaries for the audience.
Large breasts will always have their connoisseurs, if you will, but Pamela Anderson's babies without air brushing could probably double as a feature on Ripley's Believe It Or Not. Here's hoping they still looked somewhat human.

In the letter, Pam says:
“Your Majesty: I’m thrilled to be visiting Holland this week not only because of the country’s charm but also because of its progressive outlook on two issues close to my heart: sex and animal rights. These topics overlap when it comes to fur: Nothing has less sex appeal than a fur coat. I was thrilled to learn from PETA and Bont voor Dieren that Holland has banned several kinds of fur farming, and I hope it will consider enacting a ban on all types of fur farming.”
