“I have always had a passion for opulent fabrics. For this collection, I have given a modern interpretation of a traditional African print with a very luxe result,” said Asibelua.
Fati Asibelua’s capsule collection consists of sophisticated dresses, speaking directly to the elegant, refined woman who appreciates fine quality fabrics and finishing. Staying true to her basic design aesthetic, mixing African patterns with modern, contemporary shapes, the collection is an eclectic blend of traditional couture brocades and jacquards in black and navy, highlighted by metallic threading and a splash of pink.
The shapes are bold in graphic drapes with sharp silhouettes, while the finishings are delicate sheer organza linings and silk georgette bindings. Paris Fashion Week audience favorites for this season’s must have sumptuous fur trend from Momo were the plush fox fur coat with leopard spots or the mink chubby with grommets.

Lindsay at the Roberto Cavalli show
Google Images
Milan was the place to be over the weekend as Fall Fashion Week roared through the city. Clive Owen kicked things off solo on Friday at Emporio Armani before he joined up with Julianne Moore at the Bulgari Chandra party. Ashley Greene popped up in a variety of dresses, attending Giorgio Armani on Saturday with Clive and Gucci with Rachel Zoe.
Lindsay Lohan, meanwhile, spent her evening celebrating the launch of Vogue Italia's new website with editor Franca Sozzani, Claire Danes, and more. Yesterday brought Ashley Greene out for Dolce & Gabbana, while Lindsay Lohan cozied up to Roberto Cavalli at his show and afterparty. Elisabetta Canalis, the face of Roberto's underwear line, left George Clooney's side long enough to meet with the designer, then went back to her man.
Lindsay, who was back in the USA just last week stalking Samantha Ronson and partying her brains out, didn't waste any time once in Milan. She gallivanted around the city, palling around with Courtney Love and swapping spit with Roberto Cavalli himself.
The girl is a hot mess! Rumor has it that she actually cancelled a scheduled appearance at the Pure nightclub in Vegas once she heard she was invited to party in Milan with the fashion folk.
Lohan, who recently poured her heart out to The Sun while in London a few weeks back, claims to be getting her life back on track, but her friends insist the truth is anything but.

Several of fashion's big guns have yet to show their Fall 2010 collections, but a few trends have already emerged at New York Fashion Week.
THE ARTFUL COLLAGE: Several designers have beautifully combined diverse — and often surprising — fabrics (chiffon and leather) in their garments.
COMING MUST-HAVES: Christian Siriano's next Payless shoe collection, inspired by French antique furniture such as Louis XVI chairs, with filigree detailing or lion's-paw feet worked into high heels; Rebecca Taylor's sparkling hosiery in olive and navy; Donna Karan's DKNY color-patched and tied-every-which-way little dresses; white or black slash boots from Hervé Leger by Max Azria.
LADY BOUNTIFUL BUZZ: Naomi Campbell's good deed for Haiti is the talk under the tents. The supermodel formerly known for throwing telephones speed-dialed her designer and model friends — and a former British royal, Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York — to help organize a star-studded fundraiser to aid mothers and children in the earthquake-ravaged country. The capacity audience (975 sitting, another 200 standing) paid up to $150 to see a slim-lined Kelly Osbourne, Chris Brown, Helena Christensen and designers Diane von Furstenberg and Donna Karan model clothes to be sold on the net-a-porter Web site. Campbell is a global ambassador for the White Ribbon Alliance, a coalition that helps women and children in Third World countries. She appeared three times on the runway, greeted each time with a standing ovation.
BLACK OUT: While many designers are still pushing a dark palette for fall, a few are headed toward the rainbow. At Peter Som, purple reigned with a wine chenille skirt and a plum cotton-velvet tiered dress, a charmeuse dress and a stunning cotton-candy Mongolian lamb coat. Karan's DKNY line was rich with browns, color grids, sapphire and deco florals. Taylor incorporated teal, slate blue and purple. Lela Rose worked with flaming orange, pink and cobalt. Siriano's show-stopping shade was hot pink on an organza draped bodice and scalloped tulle gown.
TWO FOR TWO: Max Azria is the busiest designer here, with three collections on the schedule. And surprise, surprise, the first two — his youthful BCBG and the bandage-tight Hervé Leger lines — were his best ever. Azria, who caters to the young Hollywood jet set, presented a minimalist collection of color blocking worked into long black T-shirts that served as the foundation for many his asymmetrical dresses, sometimes worn with skinny trousers or leggings. Backstage at the Leger show, he said his dresses are “a second-skin armor for today's tough modern woman.” The skin-tight shells were made of neoprene, metallic knits, velvet prints and more, some enamel-beaded in hot pink and green. Azria's third show is today.

Award-winning designer Hernan Lander unveiled his collection for Fall/Winter 2010 in an exclusive presentation during NY Fashion Week. The much-anticipated event was held at the famed OPENHOUSE Gallery in Soho on Friday, February 12th, 2010. The crowd started gathering outside the venue way before the presentation was scheduled to begin. Select Magazine Editors and Buyers, Celebrity stylists, Designers, Photographers, TV producers, Bloggers, Media, Socials and other New York City notables came to celebrate Hernan's presentation.
For this season Hernan Lander proposed a captivating union of polished and rustic essentials. Material elements and semi-precious stones revealed their authority on the beadings, the prints and the detailing of the clothing. Modern day architectural marvels imposed their structure on the precise cuts of the jackets and the asymmetric bands. Wool, cashmere, matt jerseys, leather and snake skin created a soft and hard juxtaposition of textures while femininely curved shoulders and flexible zipper structures emphasized Hernan’s love for the female body. The palette was monochromatic with dominant purple accents. The unmistakably sumptuous couture creations created a feminine essence that was sophisticated and sensual, complex and aware. The collection highlighted pieces like silk tops, structured jackets, ruched fitted skirts, ultra feminine dresses and red-carpet-worthy evening gowns.
Hernan Lander draws upon his experience observing fashion trends in both Europe and the United States, giving him a well-rounded perspective and allowing him to expand his own design horizons. His exquisitely crafted designs have garnered public attention and attracted a discerning and growing clientele. He has found New York City to be an inspiration - not only because of its cultural and lifestyle diversity and cosmopolitan views - but also because of the willingness of its people to break with the norms and take fashion risks.
This year’s collection was inspired by the architectural marvels and the beauty of different regions and cities of the world and is a tribute to the inner and outer beauty of women around the globe. The theme was the continuing journey in the endless pursuit of beauty. Hernan used luxurious materials that fall beautifully on the female body incorporating the principles of haute couture.

Designed by UAE national Afra Al Ghafli for Oshia Fashion Design, the abayas feature diamonds, crystals, cultured pearls, turquoise and silver discs, embellishing the natural black silk fabric and one of the creations is hoped to be presented to Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak.
Mrs Al Ghafli credits the ‘mother of the UAE nation’ as her inspiration, a woman who taught UAE national women how to be charitable, generous, creative and hard-working.
“We were honoured to learn that Oshia Fashion Design had created the abayas exclusively for The Bride Show Abu Dhabi,” said Lucy Clarke, Exhibition Director for The Bride Show. “The catwalk shows are always one of the most popular features of the exhibition and visitors are in for a treat at the finale of the Oshia collection on Friday at 6pm”.
The Bride Show Abu Dhabi, taking place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre until Saturday 13 February under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Sheikha Bint Saif, wife of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, offers brides-to-be and her family a one stop shop to planning a wedding.
It has also become a must-attend event for fashion-savvy women in the UAE capital who come to see local and international designers’ latest collections on the catwalk as well as shop for haute couture evening wear, abayas, jewellery, make up, handbags and homewares.
And, as Valentine’s Day approaches, romance is reaching fever pitch on the exhibition floor. On the second day of the show, Arushi, one of the most established design houses in Dubai, gave away an off-white and pink dress, adorned with Swarovski crystals and exclusively designed for The Bride Show Abu Dhabi to celebrate the most romantic day of the year.
The dress, worth AED20,000, was the finale centrepiece for the Arushi catwalk show and was presented to one lucky visitor in the audience by Mireille Loughlin, the designer. In celebration of Valentine’s Day, anyone who visits The Bride Show Abu Dhabi wearing red on the final day, Saturday 13 Febuary, will gain free entry.

"It is an amazing cause. You give money and they help needy people and people in poverty to get shoes," said Kim Kardashian. "For the price of a latte, you can give two pairs of shoes to people in need."
Donating is easy at 50Kshoes.com. It requires no shipping and no trips to the post office. The suggested donation is very affordable, with $5.00 buying two pairs of new shoes. Kim's challenge ends on January 31, 2010 and all donations are tax-deductible.
Money raised will go toward the purchase of 1,000 pairs of new shoes which will be distributed in Kim's honor for her support. The distribution will take place on January 8, 2010 in New Orleans. Soles4Souls has sent over 1 million pairs of new shoes to the area since Hurricane Katrina devastated the area in 2005.
In addition, Kim's shoe endeavor ShoeDazzle.com will donate $5 to Soles4Souls for every person who registers with ShoeDazzle.com from now until December 23rd.

If you thought you look totally awesome in your skinny hipster jeans, well you are wrong. The trend seems to be dying off and most people these days have begun to go for that eased look, which comes with jeans that are not skinny. In the Paris Men’s Fashion Week lately, Dior Homme, Lanvin, Hermès, Paul Smith and other big names in the men’s couture did not reveal any jeans or trousers that even bordered close to being skinny or tight.
The tight jeans, kohl fudged, spike haired look seems to be dying and a relaxed 90s look seems to be back. This could be a fallout from the recession as most of us do not care about fashion anymore? as some of us are not afford as before?
The solution seems to be in well tailored but unpretentious jeans that not only look good but also make you feel like you are not being vain when people are losing jobs. Hermès designer Veronique Nichanian showed to the world what well dressed men look like even without tight and skinny jeans with washed linens and vintage shirts

Christmas party season is around the corner. Time to prepare your Christmas wardrobe. Party clothes with minimal pieces but maximum glam in a different look put together for every party. At the same time, you'd want clothes that you can still wear long after the festive season.
What you need is a wardrobe that takes you from day to night and which can go from glamorous party girl to career woman easily. You want your clothes to be versatile. To play the chameleon according to your whim and fancy. Mix and match to suit the mood and occasion.
Start with the foundation of your wardrobe. Classic pieces that go with everything. That can be worn for most occasions. Basics in a neutral color that flatters you and goes with jewel tones, metallics as well as neutrals. The best color you could use as your foundation is black.
Black is a slimming color. Black goes with other neutrals as well as bright colors and metallics. That makes black the ideal base color for your wardrobe. You can get away with jewel tones without looking clownish by wearing one item in that bright color and everything else in black.
Start with the little black dress. Or rather, the collection of black dresses. For serious partying, you need at least three black dresses to last you through the festive season. One short dress that shows off your legs, one long dress that grazes your ankle and one mid-length dress that ends either a few finger's width above or below your knees.
Next, you need at least three black skirts. Again, you should get one that is short enough to show off your legs. Bear in mind, the shorter your skirt, the longer your legs look. Especially when you wear high heel shoes. You need a long black skirt too. Preferably one that grazes the ankle. Such a skirt would be wonderful for black tie events, formal parties or when you want to look exceptionally elegant. The third skirt should be either slightly above or below the knee.
These dresses and skirt form the backbone of your wardrobe. With these, you'd always have something to wear for every event. Now comes the fun part. silk tops.

At this time of year we would usually be touting the benefits of a snug fur coat but, with party season at our door, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to hype up the benefits of the classic blazer: the easiest and most stylish option when you need a piece of outerwear to throw over your party dress. As always, we have chosen six of our favorite celebrity muses to show us how they like to style their blazers – from dressing it up with a bandage dress to dressing down with jeans and ballet flats.
STYLE TIP #1 / Contrast a feminine skirt with a boyfriend blazer and button-down shirt: Lauren Conrad is one of the biggest proponents of the blazer and loves to work the piece into her look whenever she gets the chance, pairing it with everything from mini dresses to skinny jeans and heels. Here, she compels the blazer to contrast the flirty nature of her lace mini skirt by adding a boyish touch. We suggest pairing this Stretch Poplin Shirt ($145) by Ralph Lauren Blue Label with Silence & Noise’s Boyfriend Blazer ($49, reduced from $78) and this Lace Noir Skirt ($115) by Eryn Brinie.
STYLE TIP #2 / Cut up a streamlined, sleek look by wearing a cropped, waist-length blazer that lets your accessories do the talking: Another big fan of the blazer, The City’s Olivia Palermo prefers a classic, cropped cut over the boyfriend fit that Lauren prefers. Here, she takes an edgier approach to her outfit, pairing the blazer with leather-look leggings and an oversized statement necklace. For a similar look, combine Denimocracy’s Metallic Denim Legging ($80) with Minkpink’s Ring Master Cropped Blazer ($73.99, reduced from $124) and Free People’s Topaz Bib Necklace ($129.95, reduced from $198).
STYLE TIP #3 / Give shape to a loose-fit dress by adding a structured blazer: Rachel Bilson’s petite frame would be swamped if she was to wear a loose-fit dress like this without giving it a little shape. Instead of the usual, belt fix, Rachel added a structured blazer, giving her silhouette some shape without taking away from the dress. To style your blazer a la Rachel, we think that Quiksilver’s Gloria Dress ($98) makes for a fashionable stand-in, especially when paired with Fashionista’s Slim Boyfriend Jacket ($188). Add further shape to your look by adding these Ankle Wrap Women’s Shoes ($29.99) by Delicious.
STYLE TIP #4 / Use your blazer as a winter-to-summer transitional piece by pairing it with printed sweaters and chunky scarves: The blazer is the perfect piece for transitioning from winter to summer, most importantly for its layering qualities. Here, Nicole throws it over a thick sweater and adds a chunky scarf, an outfit that will work in winter and can be transformed as you move closer to summer. We like Lynne Hiriak’s Cardigan ($177) paired with Pour La Victoire’s Women’s Irma Boots ($449.95) and Madewell’s Garcon Blazer ($148). Add this Scarf ($19.50) from Express for the finishing touch.
STYLE TIP #5 / Tone down the sexiness of a bandage dress by throwing a cropped blazer over the top: As you would expect from a girl whose mother is the epitome of French chic, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld has defined sexy with her lace mini dress. Here, she uses her blazer to tone down the look, throwing it over the dress and adding tights to keep the colors streamlined. Try this Lace Vest Dress ($59.49) from ASOS with Juicy Couture’s Cropped Tuxedo Blazer ($198). Add this pair of Strappy Platform Sandal ($19.84, reduced from $24.80) by Forever21 to complete the look.
STYLE TIP #6 / Drape an oversized blazer over a simple jean-and-tee combo for the ultimate in casual-cool: Our final Style Tip comes from teen sensation Dakota Fanning, who has mixed up a youthful look by pairing an oversized blazer with ballet flats and a loose tee, completing the outfit with a pair of skinny jeans. This We The Free Burnout Pocket Tee ($19.95, reduced from $58) will look great with J Brand’s Twill Skinny Jeans ($185). Complete the look with Perlina’s Women’s Seville Ballerina Flat ($92.95) and Topshop’s Premium Vintage Style Blazer ($110).

According to curator Elizabeth Semmelhack, "The treacherously high heels that have come into fashion in recent years can not compare with the heights achieved by the chopines worn during the Renaissance. These shockingly high platforms literally put women on pedestals and prove that extreme fashion is nothing new." The exhibition explores the social history of elevating footwear in the 16th and 17th centuries and considers why shoes have been so inexorably connected to the construction of femininity and the gendered economics of fashion then and now. The chopine's primary purpose was to increase the wearer's stature and proclaim her, and more importantly, her family's status thorough sumptuous dress.
This exhibition brings together for the first time treasured artefacts from numerous renowned International museums including: Victoria and Albert Museum, London; Museo Bardini, Florence; Castello Sforzesco, Milan; Livrustkammaren and Skoklosters Slott, both Stockholm; Museo Palazzo Mocenigo and Museo Correr, both Venice; Ambras Castle, Austria; Boston Museum of Fine Art, Boston and Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto as well as shoes for the Bata Shoe Museum.

Says the labels designer Dara Stringham: ‘I work very hard to create pieces that I love and which I can see women wearing in their everyday lives. I like playing with subtle details that only reveal themselves at close range and which allow the exquisite fabrics to shine. Comfort and elegance are my natural design instincts, a kind of old-world appreciation for quality and craftsmanship translated into contemporary pieces for the women of today.’
The beautifully designed online store allows shoppers to browse the collection by style, colour or fabric and gives detailed information along with the designer’s notes for each piece. It is easy to navigate and provides the perfect shopping experience for savvy women with busy lives.

The mysterious, sexy and the sophisticated hue black. A black outfit gives the bold statement, "Observe me but do not interfere".
Black is a color that is often misunderstood. It is even defined as an absence of color. Both positive and negative, it is used for expressing grief, and by youngsters as rebellion. It might appear a little skeptical to think that black is an all time favorite color. But be it a punk, classy, preppy or chic style; black is the color that will make one stand out in a crowd. It is a dark color that absorbs more light, and makes the wearer look even hotter. A silent and concealing shade, black is a mixture of many other colors.
Black is a timeless color and is regarded as the most stylish hue in the world of fashion. A dramatic black outfit gives a thinner appearance to the wearer and is mostly a preferred choice of creative people. In the commercial society, black is considered as a hue representing power and authority. With regards to formal wear, no color is acceptable as black. This hue is considered as the most elegant choice. This silent, and dictating shade s flattering to all skin tones and body types and gives an elegant look.
The Fashion Spotlight:
In the world of fashion, black is used to add a touch of mystery to outfits. It gives a visually slimming effect to clothing. Dark charcoal gray, and dark brown are also used as a substitute for black. Black is a color that matches with every light color. It makes other colors appear brighter. This hue blends well with jewel-toned shades of red, green, blue and white. It offers a conservative look when matched with gray, or light blue.
The upsurge of black as a noticeable color in the fashion segment was the result of creativity of the fashion houses in Paris, and London. The Little Black Dress introduced by Chanel brought a new inspiration to this color. Later, Christain Dior made the black afternoon dress and jacket. During the 90s, wearing a black outfit for a party was considered as a high society fashion in cities like Paris, and London. Black thus became a fashion of high society. Later with the passage of time, the color was adopted as a staple color in any fashionable gathering.
