As most of you heard during the Rose Bowl broadcast, Brent Musburger mentioned that Oregon running back LaMichael James was close to coming to TCU before committing to the Ducks. KGW.com in Portland caught up with James and asked him about TCU.
Q. Did Texas recruit you?
LAMICHAEL JAMES: Yes, they did recruit me in the beginning.
Q. What happened there?
LAMICHAEL JAMES: I don't know. I really didn't want to go to Texas to be honest. I kind of wanted to leave.
Q. Why?
LAMICHAEL JAMES: I have been in Texas my whole life. If you can live somewhere else for free for four years, I think I might want to try that out.
Q. One of the announcers said you almost went to TCU, though?
LAMICHAEL JAMES: I did.
Q. Can you talk about that a little bit.
LAMICHAEL JAMES: That's a funny story that I really don't want to bring up. There is a reason I didn't go to TCU, and I really did like TCU.
LAMICHAEL JAMES: I can't do that. I will tell you after the game.
