Rocky S, the favourite of Bollywood stars moved from the female to the male realm of fashion for Spring/Summer 2010 at Lakme Fashion Week with a collection that was reminiscent of an old world charm that brought together such diverse themes as gothic, punk and vintage vampire wedding attire.
Classic sharply cut suits in masculine tones of black, steel, grey, deep blue, lush violet moved to wine, beige and ivory. Rich luxurious fabrics were the base as glittering brocades jacquards, textured striped silk blends, hounds tooth, gabardine, tweed, felt, German bird’s eye and even some very interesting upholstery material was turned into very avant garde men’s wear.
Detailing was unconventional with elbow patches or lace borders on cuffs, collars, lapels on backs of jackets and pockets which added a touch of drama to the clothes. The jackets varied between one to two buttons closures and with single or double back vents. Trousers were skin tight while lapels were either peaked or notched and medium width. Waist coats appeared occasionally in gold brocade or matching fabrics. The four women’s gold, beige lace and black layered gowns were the icing on the collection.
