Included below is a capsule of TCU defensive end Jerry Hughes' performance in Saturday's 30-14 win at Virginia:

Jerry Hughes (DE, 6-3, 257, Sr., Sugar Land, Texas)

*Had a career-high and team-best 11 tackles, including 2.5 for loss with 1.5 sacks

*The 11 stops nearly doubled his 2008 season-best total of six tackles during his consensus All-America campaign

*His previous career-best tackle performance was eight stops in a 2007 win over SMU

*Made the tackle on Virginia's failed fake-punt attempt which set up a second-quarter TCU touchdown

*Keyed a dominating TCU defensive effort which limited Virginia to seven first downs and 177 yards of offense

*104 of Virginia's 177 yards (and 3-of-7 first downs) came in the final 4:39 after TCU built a 30-0 lead

Hughes was a consensus All-American last season after leading the nation in sacks (15) and forced fumbles (six). He also placed in the top 10 in tackles for loss (19.5) and fumble recoveries (three) while adding two interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown. Hughes was one of five finalists for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy as the nation's top defensive player.
