Four TCU football players have been named preseason All-Americans by Phil Steele's 2010 College Football Preview.

Jeremy Kerley is a first-team selection at punt returner, while offensive tackle Marcus Cannon and safety Tejay Johnson are third-team picks. Linebacker Tank Carder is a fourth-team choice.

Kerley was named to three All-America teams last season and was the Mountain West Conference Special Teams Player of the Year. He led the MWC and ranked among the national leaders in punt return (14.4 yards) and kickoff return (26.6 yards) average.

A senior from Hutto, Texas, Kerley returned two punts for touchdowns. His 563 punt return yards broke Davey O'Brien's single-season TCU record from 1937.

Kerley also led TCU with 44 receptions, more than doubling the 20 he had from his first two seasons combined.

Cannon had a dominant 2009 campaign for TCU in being a first-team All-Mountain West Conference selection. The senior from Odessa, Texas, did not allow a sack. He's ranked by ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. as the third-best offensive tackle available in the 2011 National Football League draft.

Johnson, who will be in his third year as a starter, was an All-Mountain West Conference selection last season. He placed fourth on TCU's nation-leading defense with 59 tackles, including a career best and TCU season-high 14 stops in a 38-7 win at BYU. It was the most tackles in a game by a Horned Frog since Marvin White totaled 14 against Baylor in 2006.

A senior from Garland, Texas, Johnson tied for TCU's team lead with three interceptions.

Carder was an All-Mountain West Conference selection in his first season as a starter. His 89 tackles placed second on TCU behind only Daryl Washington (109) and were 19 more than the next-closest Horned Frog (Alex Ibiloye, 70).

Carder was third on TCU with 10 tackles for loss. He topped the Horned Frogs while tying for second in the MWC with 10 pass breakups.
