As I posted on Wednesday, TCU head coach Gary Patterson will be going through the ESPN “car wash” tomorrow in Bristol. Boise State fans are up in arms about Patterson’s appearances on ESPN, which is funny because they are the same University that had its own PR firm last season. That is a different story though. Patterson will be appearing on many ESPN platforms on Friday as well as College Gameday on Saturday live from Wrigley Field. Here is his tentative schedule. I will try and keep everyone updated.

8:15 a.m. - Mike and Mike (ESPN2 and ESPN Radio)

10:20 a.m. - First Take (ESPN2)

10:45 a.m. - The Herd (ESPNU and ESPN Radio)

2:10 p.m. - SportsCenter (ESPNews)

2:30 p.m. - College Football Live (ESPN)

3:15 p.m.- Galloway and Company (103.3 ESPN Radio- Dallas)

3:30 p.m. - ESPN.com live chat

Some of Patterson's other interviews will air on SportsNation and radio shows hosted by Scott Van Pelt, Doug Gottlieb and Freddie Coleman. There will also be spots with local ESPN outlets and Web sites.

GameDay is taking place at Wrigley Field as the Chicago Cubs' home will host the Northwestern and Illinois football game. Patterson will appear Saturday on the GameDay set at 9:20 a.m. CST.

As I continue to try and get you hyped for the 2010 World Cup, I want to advise you that you are about to be engulfed by soccer whether you want to or not. ESPN is paying $100 million for the rights to two World Cups and two Women’s World Cups through 2014, so you can expect the coverage to be deep!

Among ESPN (44 games), ESPN2 (10 games) and ABC (10 games), all 64 games will be shown live; all will be available in high definition, and all will be streamed on ESPN3.com. Twenty-five games will be carried in 3-D.

That sentence basically sums it up, World Cup soccer is going to be all over the place and I can’t wait. According to EPLTalk.com, “ESPN has lined up 166 hours of re-aired World Cup matches that will be shown on ESPN Classic and ESPN2. All 64 games will be re-aired generally between 6pm to midnight ET each day. In addition to all of the World Cup games and re-aired games, expect to see a gigantic amount of World Cup features, news, documentaries and analysis on the ESPN family of networks.” It doesn’t mention it in the EPLTalk posting but I also know some of the SportsCenter’s and World Cup programming will originate live from South Africa.

If you are stuck at work and can’t catch the games on TV, you can watch all the games aired on ESPN and ESPN2 on ESPN3.com. The 10 games that will be aired on ABC won’t be available on ESPN3.com.

Wait, there’s more…TV and internet won’t be your only options. The World Cup games will also be available on the radio. All of the World Cup games will be broadcast on National ESPN Radio, and select games will be aired by your local ESPN Radio affiliate. I know the ESPN Radio station in Dallas will be broadcasting all of the United States and Mexico games along with a few select others.

If after reading all of that you don’t understand the magnitude or importance of the World Cup, I guess you will never get it. It is the world’s biggest sporting event and is important to so many countries around the world. It all gets started Friday morning with South Africa vs. Mexico on ESPN. TCU has announced a new five-year radio partnership with WBAP 820 AM and 96.7 FM, beginning in the 2010-11 athletics campaign.

We are very excited about our new partnership with WBAP, TCU athletics director Chris Del Conte said. We will have a most unique opportunity to be one of the few universities in the country to have its games on both FM and AM simultaneously. WBAP is an institution in Fort Worth and a terrific fit for TCU.

TCU will receive an enhanced national presence through WBAP being one of the more powerful stations in the country. The night-time signal reaches 38 states in addition to parts of Canada and Mexico. WBAP consistently ranks as one of the top-rated radio stations in the Metroplex.

This upcoming football season, the Horned Frogs will have all 12 games aired live in addition to one-hour pre-game and 30-minute post-game shows. In addition to the football partnership, WBAP will feature TCU men¹s basketball in a Game of the Week showcase on Saturday and Sunday evenings.

"WBAP has a long history with TCU dating back to its Southwest Conference days, and we're honored to once again be the radio home of the Horned Frogs," WBAP president/general manager Keri Korzeniewski said. "There is tremendous momentum around TCU and, as an alum of TCU, I look forward to having WBAP and TCU become synonymous with each other. Over 34 hours of radio programming, through the TCU ISP Sports Network, will originate over the next week around TCU's Jan. 4 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl date with Boise State.

The seven days of programming will include two shows originating live from Scottsdale, Ariz.: WBAP-AM 820’s Morning News and ESPN 103.3 FM’s Galloway and Company. WBAP’s morning program includes Horned Frog play-by-play voice Brian Estridge.

In addition to Galloway and Company, ESPN 103.3 FM will also air a live TCU Bowl Special featuring Horned Frog players Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Sunday's TCU Pep Rally will be carried live as part of the Compass Bank TCU Fiesta Bowl Special at 6 p.m. on ESPN 103.3 FM and KTCU 88.7 FM.
