This is not good news for the TCU defense. Nose tackle Kelly Griffin, the anchor of the Frogs defensive line looks to be out for the rest of the season.
Senior nose tackle Kelly Griffin suffered a broken ankle in the first quarter and is probably out for the rest of the season, TCU coach Gary Patterson said.
He was fitted for an air cast and did not return. Griffin might be able to return if TCU qualifies for a bowl game.
It appeared that Griffin was chopped-blocked on the play. Patterson did not want to talk about the play. "I'm not very happy about it, but we'll just go on and keep it all positive," he said.

TCU handled business like true professionals once again Saturday night as they took down Air Force 38-7 on a cool Ft. Worth evening. Rain threatened this game all day, but once it came time to step on the field, there wasn’t a rain cloud to be seen. TCU is now 8-0 for the second straight year and third time in the last eight seasons. Let’s break it down…
- I will start with the man who will anchor the TCU backfield for many more seasons, Ed Wesley. Wesley rushed for a career high 209 yard on 28 carries and 2 touchdowns. This was Wesley’s fourth 100 yard rushing games of the season and the guy continues to impress. I know I came into this season expecting Matthew Tucker to be the big playmaker at running back, but Ed Wesley’s star is the one shining bright right now.
- Andy Dalton was 11-of-20 for 185 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Dalton also added a career high 93 yards on the ground and a rushing TD. It was the typical game for Andy. He had a couple of ill-advised throws, but other than that, he did what was needed.
- The Horned Frog defense was stout once again. A lot of people were worried about the defense coming into the season, but they have picked up where they left off last season. Air Force’s touchdown with 6:36 left in the first quarter was the first touchdown TCU surrendered in four October games and a span of 199:48.
- For those of you keeping up with TCU’s uniform situation, they debuted a new look once again Saturday night. The Frogs went with the black Nike Pro Combat jersey from this season with their black pants and the Pro Combat helmet from last season. It looked good, but it’s not my favorite. This is the 6th different uniform combination we have seen from the Frogs this season and I love it!!
- Check out this amazing stat, in four Mountain West Conference games this season, TCU has outscored its opponents 141-10.
Next up for the Frogs is a late night game on the road against UNLV. TCU should win this one easily also, but they have to be careful not to get caught up looking ahead to Utah. I am sure Coach Patterson will keep the team focused.

Word on the street from Coach Patterson’s radio show today is that TCU will be going with the all black uniform versus Air Force. The Frogs will be wearing this year’s black Nike Pro Combat jersey with their normal black pants. We saw that combination against Baylor but the team wore purple helmets. They are supposed to be wearing the Pro Combat helmets this go around though. I used my Photoshop skills to put together the picture at the top of this posting, which is the look the Frogs are supposed to be wearing.
Also, all TCU fans need to come prepared to be loud and rowdy.

TCU’s game against Air Force tomorrow night is a BIG one. They are all big for TCU since the Frogs have to be perfect to get into a BCS game, but this one against the Falcons and at Utah in early November are very important for the Horned Frogs. Let’s focus on Air Force first though.
1. It’s a sellout. There will be a lot of eyes on TCU and the Frogs don’t need to disappoint. (I am hoping the Rangers close out the Yankees in game six tonight and the rain holds off tomorrow)
2. Air Force is a current opponent between TCU and #1 in the BCS Oklahoma. The Sooners only managed a 3 point victory against Air Force in Norman. The Frogs need to have a better performance than that and I expect them to. No way TCU allows Air Force to score 24 points.
3. Air Force is a legit team. They are 5-2 on the year and TCU needs to have a good showing at home.

From TCU Media Relations: TCU's Saturday home football game with Air Force is a sellout.
Standing-room only tickets at $15 are available via TCU's Web site (www.GoFrogs.com), the athletics ticket office in the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum or by calling (817) 257-FROG (3764).
This is TCU's second sellout this season. Dating back to last year, the Horned Frogs now have three sellouts in their last seven home dates. Over its last six home games, TCU has an average attendance of 42,509, representing 95.8 percent of the capacity at 44,358-seat Amon G. Carter Stadium.

The TCU vs. Air Force game this Saturday at Amon Carter Stadium is shaping up to be a good one. It’s a night game and it’s sold out except for some standing room only tickets. I expect the crowd to be big and loud.

We only have standing-room only tickets left for Saturday's football game with Air Force. All seats have been sold. We're on pace to set a single-season attendance record for the second straight year and should hit the 40,000 mark in average attendance for the first time in our program's history.
