What a disappointing loss for the Mavericks on Saturday against the Nuggets on what is now a blown call by the officials. Dallas now has to climb out of a HUGE three game deficit which is highly unlikely.

The NBA came out with this announcement on Saturday night.

NBA STATEMENT ON THE DENVER-DALLAS GAME THIS EVENING

NEW YORK, May 9, 2009 – Joel Litvin, NBA President, League and

Basketball Operations, issued the following statement regarding the final seconds

of Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals between the Denver Nuggets

and the Dallas Mavericks:

"At the end of the Dallas-Denver game this evening, the officials missed

an intentional foul committed by Antoine Wright on Carmelo Anthony, just

prior to Anthony's three-point basket."

Here are the final minutes of that game.

The loss didn’t really sink in until late Saturday night when I actually got to think about how crappy of a way to lose a game that is. Here are a few of my thoughts…

- When I first watched it, I didn’t think there was a foul. When I watch the replay, I can kind of see the foul, but I don’t know. I know the NBA said it was a foul, but…

- Antoine Wright has got to do a better job of fouling there. He might have thought it was obvious, but he should have made it more obvious and wrapped Melo up.

- If Wright thought the foul was so intentional, why did he throw his arms in the air right after that to act like he was avoiding the foul while Anthony was shooting?

- Brandon Bass and Dirk played great tonight.

- When will the day come that the Mavs actually get a legit center?? Seriously??

- Since the NBA did admit they blew the call, why can’t they go back and replay the final six seconds or however much time was left? They did that in 2008 when they mistakenly gave Shaq six fouls when he actually had five and fouled out. The said Shaq fouling out messed with the outcome so they replayed the final 59 seconds. Shouldn’t that be allowed here?

Now, Even though that shot determined the outcome of the game, the Mavs still blew this opportunity. "The game didn't come down to that last play," Dallas guard Jason Kidd said. "You've got to make plays down the stretch, and we just didn't do that."

- In the First quarter the Nuggets could barely hit a shot but the game was still TIED at the end of the quarter. They never took advantage of Denver’s shooting problems.

- Would anyone on the Mavs like to box out?? You can’t let them have so many easy put backs.

- Mavs missed crucial free throws. Dirk, J-Ho, and JET all missed at least one free throw in the 4th quarter.

Here is why the Mavs are in even bigger trouble…

No team in NBA history has ever lost a playoff series after taking a 3-0 lead. Here's a breakdown of the 86 previous 3-0 margins and how they ended:

It was a fun season while it lasted. I don’t see the Mavs winning on Monday, but we will see. I am really anticipating the offseason to see what happens with this team. Will they blow it up? Will Jason Kidd be here? Only time will tell.
