ESPN’s College Gameday set the stage this morning for #8 TCU visiting #16 BYU and the Horned Frogs stole the show this evening, dominating from the opening act. 60,000+ packed into LaVell Edwards Stadium to see the Cougars flattened by the Horned Frogs from start to finish.
The Frogs had the games first possession and stalled, but after that, the route was on as TCU took a 21-7 lead into halftime, and added 17 in the second half to finish off the Cougars 38-7 and remain unbeaten. TCU’s 31 point victory over BYU is the largest win over a ranked opponent in the schools storied history.
Andy Dalton was absolutely terrific tonight. The junior out of Katy, TX finished the game 13-of-24 for 241 yards, 3 touchdowns and no turnovers. All around TCU’s offense was great, out gaining BYU in total yardage 412-to-298. I believe this is the best performance TCU fans have seen from Dalton is his career. He was efficient, ran the ball well, and managed the offense up and down the field.
The TCU defense did what it always does and that is wreak havoc on opposing team’s offenses. The Horned Frog D held BYU to 200 yards and 31 points under their season average. Max Hall was under pressure all night and was sacked four times. The most impressive being Jerry Hughes off the edge that caused one of the two Cougar turnovers.
This TCU team is scary good. They have always had a solid defense, but in the past the offense has lacked or been too conservative. Now, Gary Patterson has an offense to go along with his dominant defense and it has all come together nicely. The Horned Frogs now have solid road wins this season against Virginia, Clemson, and tonight they added BYU.
GO FROGS!!!!
