By the post title you might think I care about the problems the Longhorns are having. Although I enjoy it, that is not the case. I just wanted to pass along two interesting articles from the Austin Statesman pertaining to Mack Brown.

One of them from Kirk Bohls and Randy Riggs details what went wrong for Texas in 2010. It includes things like “Brown had become withdrawn from day-to-day coaching, taking on a role akin to a CEO. He was disconnected from his team and his coaches” and, “As the year progressed, fractures within the coaching ranks widened to the point where defensive coordinator Will Muschamp got into a heated argument with offensive coordinator Greg Davis after the loss to Iowa State.” If you want a glimpse into the disaster of a season the Longhorns had, then check out the article.

The second one is another Kirk Bohls posting about Jerry Gray leaving Texas to become the Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator. Bohls states that one of the reasons Gray left Austin was because “he and boss Mack Brown never thoroughly vetted each other or felt comfortable together.”

Was 2010 the beginning of the end as Mack Browns tenure as Texas’ head football coach or will the Longhorns turn it around in 2011? As mentioned above, if Mack is taking a CEO type approach to the program, would it be better to get someone else in there?
