Boise State, you better get your institution under control…
The National Collegiate Athletic Association has charged Boise State with a major violation and a lack of institutional control after the university reported a host of secondary violations across five sports dating to 2005 and an alleged major violation by the former women’s tennis coach in 2010.
The majority of secondary violations involve impermissible housing, transportation and meals for incoming student-athletes in the days and weeks before school started, Boise State said.
All told, 79 student-athletes received improper services totaling $5,652. Of them, 63 were football players for $4,934. All of the money has been reimbursed and donated to charity. Another five international track and field athletes participated in improper practices from 2005 to 2008.
I’m sure the NCAA will now attempt to throw the death penalty at them since they aren’t Auburn or Ohio State…

This just coming in from Baylor and 1660 ESPN Radio, the TCU/Baylor football game this season will be on Friday, September 2nd at 7:00 on ESPN. Yes, another Friday night game…
Although this is disappointing, I expected this from Baylor. With the game being on a Friday night it makes it harder for TCU fans to make the game. The Bears don’t want their stadium taken over by TCU fans wanting to witness another beat down of Baylor. Pathetic.
**Update** Here is the release from TCU Media Relations: The TCU football team's 2011 season opener at Baylor has been moved to Friday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN.
The Horned Frogs will have two appearances on ESPN this season. An Oct. 28 contest with BYU at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington will also air on ESPN.
TCU now has three Friday games this fall. In addition to facing Baylor and BYU, the Horned Frogs will host SMU on Friday, Sept. 30. The SMU game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
The Horned Frogs return 11 starters from their Rose Bowl championship squad that went 13-0 and finished second in all the major polls. TCU also led the nation in total defense for a third straight season.
TCU is the only program in the country to finish in the top 10 in both the Associated Press and USA Today polls over the last three seasons. The Horned Frogs' average finish of 5.0 in the last three AP polls ranks first nationally.
TCU has a 25-game regular season winning streak and has won 39 of its last 42 contests overall.
Dating back to 2002, the Horned Frogs are 16-3 in their last 19 games versus teams from BCS automatic-qualifying conferences.
The 2011 campaign marks TCU's final season in the Mountain West Conference before beginning Big East Conference play in 2012.

This just in from Vype, Aledo RB Johnathan Gray has given his oral commitment to the University of Texas.
Just after midnight – on his 18th birthday – Aledo running back Johnathan Gray announced his commitment to Texas.
Gray, No. 1 on VYPE DFW’s area 2012 recruits and one of the nation’s most coveted running backs, chose the Longhorns over finalists TCU and Texas A&M.

As new college football uniforms continue to be unveiled, Angry Trey’s blog will try to keep you up to date. Today’s new uniform comes from Arizona State…
Not a big fan of these, especially the black ones. I’m not sure what it is, but I am not feeling them.

These three pictures of the new Washington State football uniforms were posted on the Nike Football Facebook page yesterday.
I am not a fan of gray uniforms, so I could do without that one. I really like the red and white ones though. They kind of remind me of TCU’s Pro Combat uniform from last season because of the name across the front and the strip on the shoulders. Overall I like the decision to switch it up.
Here is a question for you, has there ever been a gray uniform worn by a non-baseball team that looked good? The same goes for silver. Silver and gray uniforms should be outlawed. I know you all remember those hideous silver uniforms the Mavs wore one time right?
