Tomorrow, December 23rd is my birthday and I dearly miss my best friend, the Italian gorgeousness of Angela Strappazzon. Ange recently relocated back to her country and lives in the town of Swakopmund on the coast of northwestern Namibia, Africa.

I read somewhere that friendship is the hardest thing to explain and not something you learn in school. And if you haven't learned the meaning of friendship - then you really haven't learned anything...

Angela + Gene = Best buds, love you bitch x

Here's wishing all my readers a happy holiday season and a New Year of health, happiness and much more gossip!

Cling cling xx

Once upon a time there was a beautiful actress who had one of the most promising careers any girl could ask for. She lived in a mansion hidden away from the millions who sought her face; she had red locks flowing down her back, golden skin as smooth as silk and the charm of an angel.

...And so the story goes

But just like “Humpty Dumpty” she fell off a big white wall covered in graffiti affirming our worst fears… As she rolled down Mount Lee, to our disbelief her red locks unraveled into what seemed to be a drag queens hand-me-down, her silk skin vanished with the entire mountain covered in fake tan and it all come to a shocking standstill on the doorsteps of The Betty Ford Centre.

We were bowled over that this beautiful actress who had everything her heart desired… just so suddenly fell into this big, dark, cold hole just like dear Alice on her way to Wonderland, however sadly this fairytale actress spiraled down a path of destruction so vicious it almost cost her life …

It was discovered that the fairytale actress was just human after all and her so called perfection was just a fraction of our imagination, did we place her on a peddle stool with the expectations and demands to succeed? Are we indirectly to blame in this so called circus by exploiting her every move for the world to see or was it her decision to exchange her diamonds for rocks?

So, so pretty...

It is fair to say that according to the laws of life there is no in-betweens – it’s a yes or no, love or hate, success or failure and so the list goes on. There will always be pressure in this wonderful journey called life, how we approach and overcome the obstacles is what matters.

I steadfastly believe in second chances and the responsibility thereof, we all deserve it. Nevertheless, do not burn your bridges – sometimes the sink will be easier than the effort to swim… but hang on, push harder and know that whatever comes your way today will be your learning curve tomorrow.

So dear reader, make that conscious decision to believe in yourself as being “you” is sometimes the only thing left to hold onto. I believe Lindsay Lohan will have a major comeback, and when she does… maybe, just maybe she could inspire others, discover herself and rewrite the chapters of her fairytale.

Never let fear define who you are, as being yourself is the greatest gift you could give to others.

In a perfect world we could eat, drink and be merry without the occasional belly creeping up from behind… but we all know what happened to good friend Bridget Jones.

Celebrities and their perfect bodies are the envy of many and it’s an ongoing antagonism between mind and body until the end of days. Diets and the obsession for perfection can drive us wacky, even so to the point of depression and in extreme cases some turn to eating disorders which destroys thousands of hopes and dreams because of a fantasy that doesn’t exist.

Everything in "La-la land" is not as perfect as it seems.

We tend to forget that, yes, celebrities do come across as perfect with the fame, fortune and personal stylists – however, some things such as bodily exercise are not included in the starter pack of life. I do agree that some are fortunate with excellent DNA, but like most of them we need to stay active to keep the clock ticking. About three years ago I was sick with flu and decided there and then to quit smoking. It went incredibly well and before I knew it three weeks passed without me touching a cigarette - life was grand. I always considered myself the lucky one as weight gain was never an issue, until now…

Now you need to understand three things… when you’re a smoker it suppresses hunger, period. You can go without food throughout the day, as long as you’ve got a cigi in the one hand and a cup of coffee in the other (why do you think all the models smoke??) Secondly, when you quit smoking it’s like your taste buds are awakened from the dead and food becomes part of your existence. Lastly, out of boredom comes binging – you could eat fish bait and it will be the best thing you’ve ever tasted and one portion will never be enough.

Heidi Montag, perfect example of what happens when the "Hollywood Pressure"
get's too much...

To make a long story short, I gained 15 kilograms/ 33 pounds in less than 6 months, my clothes were too small and I was mortified. What are the people saying behind my back? From being the proud owner of a twenty-something body, to feeling stuffed, ashamed and most of all isolated. I immediately took charge of the setback which ultimately leads a person to the outcome of self-acceptance, self-love and most of all, shifting your way of thinking and finding a “happy place”

So remember my friends, the next time when you’re just about ready to dig into Mom’s turkey curry buffet just like dearest Bridget…go ahead and enjoy - however in moderation. Keep it healthy, fun and clean. As I always say, life is short and don’t take it too serious, however once in a while we need to take responsibility and care for the person staring back at us in the mirror. It might not be a gorgeous supermodel, but it’s you and rest assured that perfection doesn’t exist as we’re all masterpieces in our own right….

No so perfect after all...she's actually such a pretty girl without the retouching,
such a pity...

If anybody has anything to say about you, brush it off and start where you are today. (just like some of our celeb friends that we blog about) Sometimes it’s necessary to let loose and go through hotmess stages, gosh we’ve all been there.

I firmly believe it starts with the readiness to be happy, make it your decision today.

Things won’t change unless you don’t... the time is now.

What defines a man with style… very good question?

Is it the clothes on our back, cars we drive, the latest cell phone or perhaps an impressive bank balance (… however in isolated incidents “stuff” the style, just give me the money) or should style simply not apply to some of us? Do you judge people according to what they wear? Already thinking….

The Epitome of Mens Fashion, Tom Ford

I heard a couple of theories and I tend to agree with most of them, but somehow there is always a loop-hole to dispute. Style is without doubt a reflection of what we feel; just imagine an artist in front of a clean canvass riding the wave with each stride he takes? Do all men feel this way? I’m getting a bit philosophical (as always…) but do understand that I need to get my point across.

Is it as easy for men as it is for women to pursue the latest trends? Are clothes readily available at a reasonable price (functional, comfortable etc) or are men simply too lazy and complex. Perhaps some men are wedged in the era of “rugby shorts and safari suits” with crowds gazing in awe or are they expected to buy into the latest trend. Should men conform to style as we know it to keep adrift?

Don’t get me wrong… I own a couple of Louis Vuittons, Guess and Levi’s furthermore I love fashion, but until now I’m not psychopathic about it. We have amazing style icons in South Africa such as Trevor Noah, Nico Panagio, Michael Mol and Tumisho Masha – even look at some of our sport stars, very impressive.

Justin Timberlake: Sexy and Sleek.

Zac Efron: Comfortable and current, we lovesit!

The boys of Gossip Girl - 3 different looks in the colour of your choice!

Let me share one of my personal loathes and this just boggles with my brain. Okay here it goes… I simply can’t understand why some men could possibly think that a raised collar is remotely attractive or cool? I’m sorry if I insult anybody out there, but yet again I can’t apologise for my opinion. Still, it remains the preference of the individual to wear and do whatever makes him feel good, so why not then?

Should men be content with themselves, yet still make that conscious decision to pull out all the stops on that special occasion… I think so, as said fashion empowers you for the better and at the end of the day be yourself and have fun. It’s just life after all, so make the most of it and laugh at yourself once in a while – regardless if you wear a Lady Gaga inspired meat speedo.

It is said that you are born with style… I say have fun boys!
