What defines a man with style… very good question?
Is it the clothes on our back, cars we drive, the latest cell phone or perhaps an impressive bank balance (… however in isolated incidents “stuff” the style, just give me the money) or should style simply not apply to some of us? Do you judge people according to what they wear? Already thinking….
The Epitome of Mens Fashion, Tom Ford
I heard a couple of theories and I tend to agree with most of them, but somehow there is always a loop-hole to dispute. Style is without doubt a reflection of what we feel; just imagine an artist in front of a clean canvass riding the wave with each stride he takes? Do all men feel this way? I’m getting a bit philosophical (as always…) but do understand that I need to get my point across.
Is it as easy for men as it is for women to pursue the latest trends? Are clothes readily available at a reasonable price (functional, comfortable etc) or are men simply too lazy and complex. Perhaps some men are wedged in the era of “rugby shorts and safari suits” with crowds gazing in awe or are they expected to buy into the latest trend. Should men conform to style as we know it to keep adrift?
Don’t get me wrong… I own a couple of Louis Vuittons, Guess and Levi’s furthermore I love fashion, but until now I’m not psychopathic about it. We have amazing style icons in South Africa such as Trevor Noah, Nico Panagio, Michael Mol and Tumisho Masha – even look at some of our sport stars, very impressive.
Justin Timberlake: Sexy and Sleek.
Zac Efron: Comfortable and current, we lovesit!

Let me share one of my personal loathes and this just boggles with my brain. Okay here it goes… I simply can’t understand why some men could possibly think that a raised collar is remotely attractive or cool? I’m sorry if I insult anybody out there, but yet again I can’t apologise for my opinion. Still, it remains the preference of the individual to wear and do whatever makes him feel good, so why not then?
Should men be content with themselves, yet still make that conscious decision to pull out all the stops on that special occasion… I think so, as said fashion empowers you for the better and at the end of the day be yourself and have fun. It’s just life after all, so make the most of it and laugh at yourself once in a while – regardless if you wear a Lady Gaga inspired meat speedo.
It is said that you are born with style… I say have fun boys!
