TCU linebacker Daryl Washington and wide receiver Jeremy Kerley have received Mountain West Conference Defensive and Special Teams Player of the Week honors, respectively, for their efforts in Saturday's 39-14 win over SMU.

Washington had five tackles, including two sacks, and an interception to share the league's defensive award with San Diego State defensive back Dey Juan Hemmings.

A senior from Irving, Texas, Washington was instrumental in SMU being limited to minus-16 yards rushing, tied for the ninth-lowest single-game total in TCU history. The Mustangs were held to just nine first downs for the game with only three in the second half.

It's the second time Washington has been named a Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Week. He also garnered the award after last year's 13-7 win at Colorado State.

Kerley totaled 175 return yards, including a 71-yard touchdown on a punt return. It was TCU¹s first punt return for a score since 2002 (Terran Williams at Cincinnati), a stretch of 89 games that ranked as the seventh longest in the nation.

The 123 yards in punt returns place third for a single game at TCU and fifth all-time in the Mountain West Conference.

Kerley's 71-yard touchdown was the seventh-longest punt return in TCU history. For the game, he totaled four punt returns for an average of 30.8 yards. He also had a career-long 52-yard effort on his lone kickoff return.

A junior from Hutto, Texas, Kerley was the Preseason Mountain West Conference Special Teams Player of the Year.

Kerley added four receptions for 48 yards in the game.
