A local court in this Uttar Pradesh district Saturday issued a non-bailable warrant against filmstar Sanjay Dutt for making provocative utterances during the election campaign for the 2009 general elections, officials said
Issuing the warrant, Judicial Magistrate Krishna Kumar has directed the Mau district magistrate to arrest Dutt and present him in the court on July 8, 2011.
The order came on a complaint filed by the local station house officer Vijay Shankar Yadav, charging Dutt of violating the election code of conduct by making objectionable speeches.
The filmstar, who had come to Mau to campaign for Samajwadi Party candidate Arshad Jamal, had allegedly said at an election rally that 'when I was in a Mumbai jail, the policemen used to thrash me simply because my mother happened to be a a Muslim'.
According to the FIR lodged against Dutt, the speech was clearly intended to gain sympathy of local Muslim voters.
Dutt was arrested April 1993 under the stringent Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act in the aftermath of the Mumbai blasts and spent 16 months in jail until he was granted bail by the Supreme Court in October 1995. He was later acquitted of terror charges but convicted under the Arms Act. He has appealed and is out on bail.
Some time ago, another court in the state's Pratapgarh district has issued a warrant for Dutt's arrest after his remarks that he would be willing to give his 'jaadu ki jhappi' to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, a reference to his character in the film 'Lage Raho Munnabhai'. The actor had then moved the Allahabad High Court, which stayed the order.

Hit the gym instead of smoking to slim and trim, advises Bollywood actress Sameera Reddy, a day ahead of the World No Tobacco Day.
Sameera, a non-smoker, also feels that women who smoke to remain fit should change their approach as 'there is no substitute for a good diet and exercise'.
'Make the decision to quit and then stick to it. Stay strong, I have seen many of my friends go through nicotine withdrawals and it's not easy but totally worth it in the end,' Sameera said in a statement.
'Do some yoga, practice some deep breathing and if the cravings get too much use a nicotine chewing gum or patch but don't give up and go back to smoking,' she added.
The actress has featured in films like 'No Entry', 'Race' and 'De Dana Dan'.
Director Sujoy Ghosh came in for a big time shock when he saw the ‘Parineeta’ star, Vidya Balan all drunk at the photo shoot for his upcoming movie, ‘Kahani’. Sujoy got really concerned and wanted to call it a day. According to a source Vidya was very drunk and could not even stand properly. However Sujoy got another shocker when he saw Vidya all fine and was completely in her senses. That’s when he got to know that the pretty woman was just trying to pull his leg by acting fully drunk.
The director helplessly got duped with her acting skills and even appreciated her for showing such an act. After all the drama the photo shoot finally began and everything went perfect. Vidya will be seen playing the role of a married woman who comes down to Kolkata in search of her husband. Her husband goes missing when he flies down to India in search of a job from London. At present Vidya is busy shooting for the upcoming flick, ‘Dirty Dancer’, pairing opposite the international Khiladi, Akshay Kumar. Sujoy wanted to start the shooting with Vidya long time back. However he has finally started his pre-production in Kolkata which plays the backdrop in the film.

Actress Adah Sharma, who made her debut with Vikram Bhatt's '1920', has been completely in awe of her 'Pri and Me' co-star Sanjay Dutt since her school days.
Adah and her gang of friends were such huge fans of Sanjay that when one of them discovered that he stayed in Pali Hill, they created an amteur search party and went all around their neighbourhood trying to find his home and catch a glimpse of her favourite actor.
'Pri and Me' is a romantic comedy and will be Adah's second film after '1920'. Sanjay Dutt will be seen in a comeo role.

Colombian pop singer Shakira recently revealed in Morocco that she is interested in recording an album in Arabic.
"It would be a challenge to do an album in Arabic. I would first have to learn Arabic," she said. "I am completely open to that experience. ... At some point I would love that to happen in my life."
Born in Colombia of Syrian origin, Shakira said she grew up listening to the Arab world's premier divas of the 20th century, Egyptian Umm Kalthum and Lebanese Fairuz, reports the Gulf News.
The native Spanish speaker also admitted that she only speaks a few words of Arabic, including ateeni boosa or give me a kiss, provoking laughter among the mostly Moroccan crowd of journalists.

Selena Gomez is receiving death threats from envious female fans of her boyfriend Justine Bieber after steamy snaps of the teen couple on holiday in Hawaii emerged online.
The Disney star incurred the wrath of Bieber's fans, known as Belibers, after she was photographed frolicking in the sea, kissing the pop star with her legs wrapped around his waist at their recent trip to Hawaii, reports the Daily Mail.

Ever since Kim Kardashian has announced her engagement to Kris Humphries last week, predictions are revealing that her marriage is all set to make millions in revenue.
PopEater has revealed that TV executives are already planning a show around the wedding and possibly televising the ceremony, reports Contactmusic.

The 'I Kissed a Girl' singer was reported to have revealed that she was so impressed by a magic act she saw on reality TV show 'America's Got Talent' that she asked how the trick was performed and has incorporated it into her live show.
"I saw these two magicians do it on America's Got Talent... and I thought, 'I'll have them teach me the trick," Contactmusic quoted her as telling a new Entertainment Weekly.
"I had to sign a nondisclosure agreement saying that I wouldn't give away the secrets behind the magic trick," she added.

Actress Selena Gomez has attracted the fury of fans of pop sensation Justin Bieber after photos of the couple vacationing in Hawaii emerged online.

Sean is reportedly in a critical condition after crashing his jet ski into a bridge connecting Palm Island to the MacArthur Causeway on Sunday evening, May 29. He was at the time riding the personal watercraft with a female passenger. Both have been rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where the "Beautiful Girls" hitmaker is said to be treated in the trauma ward.
Joseph Carozza, a publicist for the R&B singer, has issued a statement. "Sean Kingston was in an accident today. No further details are available at the moment," he said. "He and his family thank everyone for the well-wishes." Meanwhile, a spokesman with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission told Local 10 that Sean and his companion "needed medical attention."

Warner Bros. announced yesterday that production on Jack the Giant Killer is underway in London with Bryan Singer directing. Not a big surprise, since we saw this photo from the set in April. But the official production announcement revealed this synopsis:
Jack the Giant Killer tells the story of an ancient war that is reignited when a young farmhand unwittingly opens a gateway between our world and a fearsome race of giants. Unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries, the giants strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing the young man, Jack, into the battle of his life to stop them. Fighting for a kingdom, its people, and the love of a brave princess, he comes face to face with the unstoppable warriors he thought only existed in legend—and gets the chance to become a legend himself.

Weekend Box Office – THE HANGOVER PART II Brings Its Four Day Total to $118 Million

Here are the estimates for the top ten films this Memorial Day Weekend. Note that the weekend figure includes only the three days of a traditional box office weekend, even though both of the week’s major new releases (The Hangover Part II and Kung Fu Panda 2) debuted last Thursday. We’ll have a full analysis of the four/five day holiday tomorrow, but today I would just like to give a quick shout out to Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris which has made it into the top ten on the strength of just 58 venues. It is the first time I’ve personally seen an Allen film in the weekend top ten since… ever

In the eyes of casting directors, there is something very science-fictional about Alice Braga: I Am Legend. Blindness. Repo Men. Predators. Falling in line, writer/director Neill Blomkamp (District 9) will employ Braga to bring his vision of the future to life in Elysium. (Initially there was some Braga confusion. Deadline first reported that it was Sonia Braga who joined the film — the post has since been updated to reflect that it is in fact Sonia’s niece Alice who signed on.)
Braga joins Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, William Fichtner, Wagner Moura, and Sharlto Copley inElysium, scheduled for release on March 1, 2013. The plot is a mystery for now, by the “unabashedly big movie” is said to take place 100 years in the future on another planet. Foster recently confirmed she will play “the head of an alien planet,” if that offers a clue about what you’re in for.
Jackie Chan’s next film, the historical epic 1911, is billed as his 100th feature. This appears to be mostly marketing math to capitalize on the centennial of the subject matter, “the founding of the Republic of China when nationalist forces led by Sun Yat-sen (Winston Chao) overthrew the Qing Dynasty.” The first trailer is online, and looks suitably heroic.
Chan co-directed the movie with cinematographer Zhang Li (Red Cliff). 1911 is set for a day-and-date release in the United States and China on October 11. Watch the trailer after the break.
As Bleeding Cool noted when writing about the trailer, Chan is credited as “general director” while Zhang receives the more traditional “director” credit. Since this is a war movie, I assume Chan was focused on advising the actors playing generals — Zhang took care of the rest.
The international trailer for One Day has been released. Directed by Lone Scherfig (An Education), the adaptation of the David Nicholls book stars Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess. While the first U.S. trailer that was released was a little too “Lifetime Original Movie” for my liking, this international trailer seems to give a better feel for how the finished film will be. I’m intrigued by the story, and I’ve been told that Nicholls’ book is fantastic. Hit the jump to watch the international trailer yourself. One Day hits theaters August 19th.
A couple of new images from the Cold War thriller Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy have hit the web. Directed by Tomas Alfredson (Let the Right One In), the adaptation of John Le Carre’s novel centers on semi-retired agent George Smiley (Gary Oldman) who is pulled out of semi-retirement to ferret out a Soviet mole within MI6. In addition to Oldman, the phenomenal cast includes Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong, Ciaran Hinds, John Hurt and Toby Jones. When speaking with Steve earlier this year, Oldman said that his part in this film is probably the greatest role he’s ever played. Needless to say, this one should definitely be on your radar. So how is Lindsay Lohan filling her lonely days on house arrest? Tanning and painting! TMZ reports the troubled starlet has been spending lots of her time on the roof of her ritzy Venice Beach apartment building working on her tan and watching the ocean. And, when she's inside, she often paints.
LiLo managed to get only 35 days of house arrest, instead of 120 days in jail, when she was sentenced in early June for stealing a necklace from a swanky Beverly Hills jeweler. So, now she's enjoying some hard time at home.
Sources say the starlet is using this as a "time to relax, focus on her recovery and figure out her new game plan for her life and career."
If you haven't gone red yet, you're clearly missing out on Hollywood's hottest—and reddest—trend. Lady Gaga is the latest in a slew of celebrities to go to the red side. Although, unlike the others, this one was semi-permanent, fleeting even.
For the latest cover of Rolling Stone, the superstar dyed her locks a pale crimson and brought back her famous hair bow. Of course, she's scantily clad in a lace bra, but compared to her past few covers, it's downright normal!
