The Mountain West is trying to protect its product. That is the only explanation for the news coming out today that the TCU/Boise State game could possibly be moving to Boise.

The Mountain West Conference athletic directors favor tweaking the football schedule to make TCU play at Boise State in the only conference game the two schools will play, commissioner Craig Thompson said Wednesday. TCU is leaving the Mountain West after the 2011-12 academic year to join the Big East.

The final decision on the Boise State-TCU game site will be made by the league presidents in the next couple weeks. It takes a majority vote — and TCU doesn’t have a vote.

It was originally thought that Boise State would take over Utah’s conference schedule which would mean the Broncos would travel to Ft. Worth in 2011. I don’t know how BYU also leaving the MWC affected that thought process, but this is a terrible idea.

- It affects TCU’s home schedule for 2011. That was the marquee game for the Frogs at Amon Carter in 2011. Who will TCU replace them with?

- After two straight years of bringing BCS money to the Mountain West, this is how you plan to repay us? Thanks Craig Thompson…

- Most important of all, I don’t want to see TCU playing on that embarrassment of a field that Boise State has. Not only is it terrible to look at, it’s a disgrace to the sport of football.

I understand that the Mountain West wants to do what is best for the conference, which would be to protect Boise State, but just say no to the Frogs playing in Idaho.
