TCU offensive tackle Marshall Newhouse and linebacker Daryl Washington have been added to the watch list for the 2009 Rotary Lombardi Award, presented annually to the nation's top lineman or those who play within five yards of the ball.
Newhouse and Washington join Horned Frog defensive end Jerry Hughes, who appeared on the initial list when it was released in March.
TCU is one of 18 schools to have at least three players on the Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List.
A preseason All-American, Newhouse is a two-time All-Mountain West Conference selection. He has started every game at left tackle the last two seasons. The senior from Dallas anchored an offensive line in 2008 that enabled TCU to lead the nation in time of possession (35:10) while setting single-season school records for points scored (437) and touchdowns (56).
Washington, also named earlier this week to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List, is TCU's top-returning tackler after totaling 63 stops last season. He was instrumental in the Horned Frogs leading the nation in defense for the third time in the last nine campaigns.
Hughes was a consensus All-American last season and a finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and Ted Hendricks Award. He led the nation with 15 sacks and six forced fumbles. He has been named to nine preseason All-America teams while appearing on watch lists for six national awards.
The Rotary Lombardi Award is presented by Houston's Rotary Club. In addition to outstanding performance and ability, the recipient best exemplifies the discipline of Vince Lombardi.
The 2008 Rotary Lombardi Award winner was University of Texas defensive end Brian Orakpo.
