It was rumored last week that Michael Jordan would grace the cover of NBA 2k11, and it appears that 2KSports has now confirmed the rumor.
2K Sports just confirmed to CNBC that Michael Jordan, as rumored earlier, will be featured on the cover of NBA 2K11. Asked how Jordan would appear in the game, 2K said only that there will be "some really good surprises."
As someone who prefers NBA 2K over NBA Live, I think it is kind of cool that Jordan will be on the cover and in the game, but isn’t it kind of late for this?
I appreciate Michael Jordan as much as the next guy, but this would be a lot cooler if he was actually still playing in the NBA. I understand what 2K Sports is trying to do, and I bet they sell huge numbers, but they should have honored a player who is playing and deserves it. You could make a case that someone like Kevin Durant, Tyreke Evans, or Rajon Rondo should be on the cover for their performances.
Also, what will be the “really good surprises?” There isn’t a whole lot they could do that hasn’t already been done.
