Ever since the college football pre-season rankings for this season were released there have been out cries about Boise State and TCU and how they shouldn’t have the opportunity to play for the BCS National Championship. Those voices have grown even louder this week with both teams being in the top five of both polls and Boise State receiving seven first place votes. The thing about all of this is, there are two simple solutions to the problem.

Before I get into the solutions, I want to say this, it is WAY too early to be hearing all of this complaining. There is a long season ahead and it’s not an easy accomplishment to go undefeated. Boise and TCU are both just one serious injury, or fluke snap in bad weather away from losing a game. That goes for the rest of the NCAA also. Boise and TCU will both be tested whether you want to admit it or not. TCU still has two top 25 teams remaining on their schedule and Boise still has tough games with Oregon State, Fresno State, and Nevada. So before you get all upset, just settle down and enjoy the season.

Now onto the solutions for your problem…They are easy to fix.

1. Set up a playoff system. If the big state schools in the BCS stood up and pushed for a playoff system, it could be done. If you really feel it’s somehow unfair that Boise State or TCU play for the National Title, then push for a playoff system to make them prove their worth even more. Take all of the conference champions and put them in a playoff bracket and your problem is solved. Although, I am sure there will still be someone who finds something to complain about.

2. This second option is an even easier solution to your problem. Schedule TCU and Boise State and beat them. Wow, what a novel idea. See, we aren’t like you BCS schools where we could lose a game and still get a shot at the BCS title game, no, we have to go undefeated or our season is down the drain. If you don’t want to see non-BCS teams in your BCS games, then just beat us.

If you would like me to solve any more of your problems, just let me know.
