This new phenomenon of “style points” is taking the media by storm and it seems like every time TCU is mentioned, it has to be followed up with some sort of line about being a non-BCS school and having to win with style. This is complete trash.

First, how is it that TCU has to beat every opponent by 30+ but there is nothing said when Nebraska struggles against South Dakota State at home? How does LSU look totally incompetent but yet still moves up in the poles? Last weekend ESPN scrolled the TCU-Colorado State score across the bottom line but added in “TCU only led 6-0 at half.” Is that what it has come to now? I’m pretty sure ESPN didn’t scroll “TCU led Baylor 35-3 at half” when the Frogs were stomping the Bears. Hypocrisy at its finest.

Next, this is football, not ice skating. Last time I checked the main purpose of the game was to win. I would like to know when a 27-0 shutout where TCU holds a team to 160 total yards became a bad win?

Finally, the announcers and commentators can continue to bring up “style points” all they would like, but it won’t matter as long as Alabama, Oregon, Ohio State, and Nebraska remain unbeaten. The BCS system is not going to allow a non-BCS team to play in the National Title game over an undefeated team from the SEC, Big Ten, or Pac-10. If these teams start losing, then it might hold a little bit of weight, but until then, the point is mute.

Nobody was talking about “style points” last season and TCU did just fine. The team is coming together and there are a lot of good games remaining to show the country what this Frog team is all about. I guarantee you if TCU runs through Air Force, BYU, and Utah, people will be talking. Just win!!!
