Before I put the beat down of Utah completely to bed and start focusing on San Diego State, I would like to point out why the Frogs crushed the Utes the way they did. If you remember last week I posted keys for a TCU victory, and I would like to revisit those.

- TCU takes the crowd out of it early. Rice-Eccles Stadium is a tough place to play and if TCU can get up early, it will take the Utah crowd right out of the game.

The Frogs jumped on Utah early putting up 20 points in the 1st quarter and never looking back. The crowd was never a factor. The 93 yard touchdown pass from Dalton to Boyce on the third possession pretty much shut them up for good.

- Get Jeremy Kerley the ball. Kerley was hurt for the 2008 game in Utah and it was big void for the Frogs. TCU needs to get the ball in his hands early and often. Kerley possesses the greatest big play threat, and TCU has to get him involved.

TCU did in fact get Kerley going early. The first play of the game was a pass to Jeremy Kerley for 9 yards. The seventh play of the game was a 6 yard pass to Kerley. He also threw for a touchdown in the first quarter.

- Run the ball and control the clock. TCU has had a tendency to get away from the run in some games, and that doesn’t need to happen in Salt Lake City. The Frogs need to put an emphasis on the running game and keep the Utah offense off the field. The Horned Frogs are 49-2 in their last 51 games when leading in time of possession.

TCU out-gained Utah 177-51 in rushing yards. The Frogs almost doubled the Utes in time of possession winning that battle 39:06 to 20:54.

- Andy Dalton protects the ball. If Dalton plays a clean game with no turnovers, I don’t think there is any way Utah wins. Period.

Andy Dalton was nearly perfect and had a career day. Dalton was 21-of-26 for 355 yards, 3 touchdowns, and no interceptions.

It’s now time to look forward to San Diego State and the last game at the current Amon G. Carter Stadium. This is also our last chance to send this senior class out on a high note. I expect the atmosphere to be electric.
