Mavs Sign Jake Voskuhl

The Dallas Mavericks announced today they have signed NBA veteran center Jake Voskuhl. Terms of the deals were not disclosed. Dallas enters its 30th training camp with a 17-player roster. For the second consecutive season, the Mavericks will hold training camp at Crum Basketball Center on the campus of Southern Methodist University.

“It’s hard to believe this marks the 30th year of Mavericks basketball,” President of Basketball Operations Donnie Nelson said. “This squad is as explosive and versatile as we’ve ever had. With seven new faces, we’ve added solid veteran depth at each position. We couldn’t be more excited and can’t wait to get started.”

Voskuhl (6-11, 255) joins the Mavericks after spending last season with Toronto where he averaged 1.6 rebounds and 6.3 minutes in 38 appearances. Dallas is the sixth stop for Voskuhl, a nine-year veteran, who has also played for Chicago, Phoenix, Charlotte and Milwaukee. After being drafted in the second round (33rd overall pick) of the 2000 NBA Draft, the former Connecticut Husky spent his rookie season in the Windy City before moving onto Phoenix the following season.

In 2003-04, his best season as a pro, Voskuhl averaged 6.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 24.3 minutes through 66 games (43 starts) for the Suns. Voskuhl has made one appearance in the postseason (2002-03 with Phoenix) and holds averages of 6.0 points, 3.7 rebounds and 16.3 minutes per game in six outings. Voskuhl owns career marks of 4.0 points, 3.4 rebounds and 14.3 minutes through 450 games (93 starts).
