If you don’t know by now, I hate colored turf. I think it is unnatural, ugly, amateur, and hard on the eyes. It shouldn’t be allowed by the NCAA. Here is another prime example of why it should be outlawed.
If you thought the blue turf was hard on your eyes, try being a Boise State coach.
The coaches review footage of practice every day and it was their complaints that really hit home with athletic director Gene Bleymaier.
FieldTurf agreed to replace the 2-year-old playing surface in Bronco Stadium this summer to eliminate the glare issue that also drew complaints from fans and TV viewers.
"What really got my attention was those (fan) things, but also when (coach Chris Petersen) said, 'Gene, it's hard to watch practice tape,' " Bleymaier said. "Sometimes they had trouble viewing their practice tapes because of the glare."
If your own coach doesn’t like the field, maybe you should scrap the whole “blue turf” gimmick all together.
