All-NBA First Team





Earning his fourth First Team selection, Nowitzki was the league's fourth-leading scorer (25.9 ppg), while also averaging 8.4 rebounds. His .890 free throw percentage ranked seventh overall. Nowitzki finished the season by scoring at least 20 points in 25 straight games, the longest such streak in the NBA this season.





DIRK NOWITZKI NAMED FIRST TEAM ALL-NBA



DALLAS- Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki was named All-NBA First Team,

the NBA announced today. It is the ninth consecutive season Nowitzki has been named All-NBA and the fourth time he has garnered First Team honors

(2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07).

“It is always an honor to make the All-NBA Team,” Nowitzki said. “To be

recognized along with so many talented players means a lot to me.”

Nowitzki, the NBA’s fourth leading scorer (25.9 ppg), closed the regular

season by scoring 20+ points in each of the last 25 games dating back to

vs. Oklahoma City (2/27) – the longest such streak in the NBA this

season. Nowitzki also ranked 16th in rebounds per game (8.4) and seventh

in free throw percentage (.890) among NBA leaders.

Dallas became only the fourth franchise in NBA history to win 50 games

over nine consecutive seasons (San Antonio, Boston, L.A. Lakers).

In nine postseason games, Nowitzki is averaging 26.2 points, 10.1

rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.0 steal in 38.8 minutes while shooting 51.6

percent from the floor and 91.4 percent from the free throw line.

Nowitzki averages series-highs of 35.0 points and 12.0 rebounds through

four games of the Western Conference Semifinals vs. Denver. The Mavericks

(1-3) continue their series with Game 5 tonight in Denver (8:00 PM CT,

TNT).

Nowitzki remains the only Mavericks player in franchise history to be

named All-NBA First Team and is one of only three players (Kobe Bryant,

Tim Duncan) to be named to an All-NBA Team in each of the past nine

seasons.

The 11-year NBA veteran is joined on the First Team by LeBron James

(Cleveland Cavaliers), Dwight Howard (Orlando Magic), Kobe Bryant (L.A.

Lakers) and Dwyane Wade (Miami Heat).
