If you want to be shaken shitless, then this is the movie for you…
Paranormal Activity is a supernatural horror movie and better known as one of the most profitable movies of all time. With a budget of only $ 15 000 (and lead actors originally earning only $ 500) the movie went onto grossing $ 193, 355, 800 – very astonishing for a motion picture that was promoted to only thirteen college towns.

The entire movie was shot by home video in a found-footage style (same as The Blair Witch Project) by director, Oren Peli’s. According to reports, Peli has been afraid of ghosts since childhood and used the fear as inspiration for the box office phenomena. He also stated that instead of creating a movie consumed with gore he wanted to produce an experience that is authentic and mind boggling.
Critics delivered mix reviews and among them were “certain kind of eeriness, precisely what made Poltergeist so frightening back then” - however other critics affirmed “far too slow” and “horror-movie standards have dropped” Everyone will be happy to now that the original actors, Katie and Micah will be back for the sequel – other than that, you’ll have to wait until next month.
