College Football is now only a day away and I am feeling like a kid on Christmas, because I can’t wait for this season to get underway. Will Tim Tebow have another great season? Can Oklahoma and Texas live up to the hype? Will Ohio State get blown out in another bowl game? And most importantly, can TCU finally crash the BCS party? The action gets underway tomorrow with two really good games on ESPN.
The top 10 looks like this
1. Florida
2. Texas
3. Oklahoma
4. USC
5. Alabama
6. Ohio State
7. Virginia Tech
8. Penn State
9. LSU
10. Mississippi
No real complaints in the top 10. The problems I do have come further down the list.
- TCU should not be at #17. They should and deserve to be somewhere between 12-15.
- Why is Notre Dame at 23? What have they done to be in the top 25?
I’m really expecting Florida to with the SEC and be back in the National Championship. They have a lot of talent and their schedule isn’t that demanding at all. I like Urban Meyer as a coach, and he will have his team ready for any obstacle they face.
I’m picking Oklahoma to win the Big XII, and fight it out with the Gators in the National Championship. I despise the Sooners, but I like the weapons Sam Bradford has in Demarco Murray and Jermain Gresham over the Longhorns options. Here is a cool stat for you…In the past 12 years, when Florida State beats Miami, Texas has also beaten OU.
The Big 10 is the Big 10. I don’t care about them. They are overhyped and overrated. Ohio State will probably end up winning the conference again by default. Penn State could be in the mix, but they are another one of those teams who never live up to expectations. Michigan will be improved, but still not great. How will the Wolverines handle the latest distractions that surfaced recently?
The Big East…here is another conference that deserves no attention. This conference shouldn’t even be in the BCS. Kick these bums out and add the Mountain West to the mix. They have no teams in the top 25 and deservedly so. I don’t know who will this terrible conference and I really don’t care.
Over in the ACC, I believe it will be a battle between Florida State and Virgina Tech for the top spot. I want to say the Hokies will take the conference, but I can’t count out Florida State. There is something about the Seminoles that intrigues me this season.
And then there is the Pac-10, or should I say USC + 9? It seems every year that the Trojans slip up somewhere they shouldn’t.I expect them to lose, but it is hard to pick which team. Will it be Ohio State early on? Maybe Oregon or UCLA? Either way, I think USC wins the Pac-10 despite having a freshman QB.
The Mountain West is by far the best conference not in the BCS Cartel. They have three teams in the top 25, and have shown they can play with anyone that will give them a shot. I believe this year’s TCU team is the best Gary Patterson has put on the field. Jerry Hughes will continue to abuse the opposition’s offense and the Frogs will win the conference and finally make it to a BCS bowl game.
One last thing, Boise State will lose to Oregon tomorrow. I can’t stand their team and they deserve to lose for having this stupid dress code/wardrobe instruction plan.
