In addition to having a successful year on the gridiron, the 2009 TCU football team also excelled in the classroom.

Horned Frog football players posted a combined 2.521 grade-point average in the Fall 2009 semester for their best mark since Spring 2002. The cumulative football GPA for the Fall 2009 semester was 2.605, the highest since records were first kept in 1998.

One-third of TCU football players had a Fall 2009 GPA of 3.0 or better as reported by the TCU Athletic Academic Services Office.

All 13 seniors on the 2009 Horned Frogs either already have their degree or are on pace to earn it this semester. Cornerback Rafael Priest, offensive tackle Nic Richmond and tailback Chris Smith played as graduate students this fall. Cornerback Nick Sanders completed his degree in December.

The American Football Coaches Association recognized the TCU football program in December for graduating 75 percent or more of its student-athletes. It was the second straight year the Horned Frogs received the AFCA honor.
