As the TCU Horned Frogs continue to rack up the wins, the recognition continues to come their way also. TCU was named the Fiesta Bowl National Team of the Week, Gary Patterson is a semifinalist for the Paterno Award, and Andy Dalton is a semifinalist for the Maxwell award. This all coming after a 47-7 beat down of Utah on Saturday. The Frogs are currently 10-0 and sit at #3 in the BCS.

Gary Patterson a Semifinalist for Paterno Award

TCU football coach Gary Patterson has been announced as a semifinalist for the Maxwell Football Club's first-annual Joseph V. Paterno Award.

To honor the spirit of Coach Paterno's persona, the winner is based on success on the football field, in the classroom and in the community.

In addition to his accomplishments on the gridiron, the 10th-year Horned Frog head coach has been active in the community through his Gary Patterson Foundation. He was also instrumental in the successful $105 million fundraising campaign to renovate TCU's Amon G. Carter Stadium.


TCU Named Tostitos Fiesta Bowl National Team of the Week

With a 47-7 win at Utah, No. 3 TCU has been named the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl National Team of the Week.

It's the third straight year and fourth time in six seasons that TCU has received the honor. The Horned Frogs were also the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl National Team of the Week after wins over BYU the last two seasons and a 2005 victory at Oklahoma.

In snapping Utah's 21-game home winning streak, TCU improved to 10-0 for the second straight year and third time in eight seasons.

Utah entered the game with the nation's third-ranked scoring offense (45.2 points per game) but was held to 199 yards. The Utes did not cross midfield until the fourth quarter with TCU leading 40-0.


Andy Dalton Named Maxwell Award Semifinalist

Maxwell Football Club President Ron Jaworski has announced TCU quarterback Andy Dalton as one of 16 semifinalists for the 74th Maxwell Award, recognizing collegiate football's top player.

Also a semifinalist for the Davey O'Brien Award as the nation's best quarterback, Dalton ranks fourth nationally in passing efficiency with a 166.68 rating. His 39 victories as a starting quarterback lead the nation among active players.

For the season, Dalton has completed a TCU single-season record 67.5 percent of his passes with 19 touchdowns and just five interceptions. He's also third on the Horned Frogs with 418 yards rushing on a 6.0 per carry mark. He has run for first downs on 38.6 percent of his carries.
