DALLAS- Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki was named Western Conference Player of the Week for games played April 5-11. Nowitzki has earned the honor four times this season, and 14 times in his career, after being named player of the week for games between Dec. 1-7, and for consecutive weeks in late February and early March.

Nowitzki led the Mavericks (53-27 overall) to a 3-0 week as they secured their third Division title in franchise history. Dallas won the Southwest Division following a victory at Portland on Friday night.

Nowitzki averaged 33.7 points (.552 FG, 1.000 3FG, 1.000 FT), including 21.0 points in the second half, to go with 8.7 rebounds. He recorded one double-double.

The 12^th year pro posted his third 40-point effort of the season with a game-high 40 points, 10 rebounds and one steal in an 83-77 victory over the Trail Blazers. He followed that with 39 points and seven rebounds in a 126-108 win at Sacramento on Saturday night.

For the season, Nowitzki averages 25.1 points (7^th in NBA), 7.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.0 blocks in 79 games. Dating back to the second quarter vs. Denver (3/29), Nowitzki has made a franchise-record 68 consecutive free throws, including 33 in the week. He is shooting a career-high 91.4 percent (3^rd in NBA) from the free throw line.
