Another two-a-day in the books for the TCU Horned Frogs today, and not only was there action on the field, there was news being made off the field as it looks like BYU will leave the Mountain West Conference to become an Independent in Football.

Coach Patterson fielded questions from the media after practice on the reports of BYU leaving. Patterson was confident that TCU would be ok and said that “we’re not building a new stadium so we can back up.” The Frogs head coach also pointed out that “Boise’s gone to 2 BCS games in the WAC. I don’t know what everybody’s worried about. We built a reputation where we’re at as a program and a league. We are going to move forward."

It gets better from there though. Coach Patterson gives this advice for the Cougars, “But you gotta be careful what you wish for. If you’re BYU you have to be careful what you wish for. “

My favorite quote of the day, and maybe one of my favorite Patterson quotes ever came after he was asked if he was surprised the move came in this climate. I’ve got 130 guys and I’m in 113 degree heat. I’m worried about people’s health and getting the football team better, seriously. I just got done raising $110 million for a stadium we just announced. We’re going to do what we’ve done since the beginning of time, since I’ve been here in 13 years. Were gonna take care of TCU. That’s what my job is. It’s not my job to worry about what Utah does, what BYU does. I can tell you this, if you think being an independent is an easier way to get to a National Championship, you’re kidding yourself.”
