This just shows how much the popularity of soccer is growing in the U.S. and ESPN has really been making an effort to show as many games as they can. The Worldwide Leader recently launched ESPN UK to air English Premier League matches in England, and now we have more chances to see games here in the states.

From EPL Talk.com

ESPN has acquired the TV rights to two of the weekly Premier League slots on US television for the 2009-2010 season. Beginning on August 15, 2009, each week ESPN will feature the 7:45am ET Saturday game and the 3pm ET Monday game.

EPL Talk also has the schedule of matches up.

ESPN2's first EPL match in the U.S. will pit Chelsea against Hull City on Saturday, August 15. (This most likely will be Jozy Altidore’s first appearance with Hull City)

Between ESPN, Fox Soccer Channel, and the internet, I should be able to follow most the games I would want to see. I appreciate this even more because my cable provider doesn’t offer Sentanta.

There are also some good soccer matches coming up this weekend.

- Tonight at 6:30 on ESPN you have Real Madrid v. Toronto FC

- Sunday at 9:00 AM on Fox Soccer Channel is ManU v. Chelsea for the Community Shield

- Sunday at 2:30 PM on Fox Soccer Channel is Real Madrid vs. D.C. United

- Then on the 12th is the HUGE match between the U.S. and Mexico at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
