TCU's Andy Dalton has been named to the watch list for the Manning Award, recognizing the top quarterback in the nation.

The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that takes into consideration the candidates' bowl performances.

A junior from Katy, Texas, Dalton is halfway to becoming just the second quarterback in college football history to win four bowl games as a starter. Last season, West Virginia's Pat White became the first to accomplish the feat. Dalton is a two-time bowl game Most Valuable Player after leading the Horned Frogs to victories in the 2007 Texas Bowl and 2008 Poinsettia Bowl.

Dalton has won 17 games as TCU's starting quarterback, tying him for sixth on the Horned Frogs' career chart. With seven victories this season, he would move into sole possession of second place. Sam Baugh is TCU's career leader with 29 wins (1934-36).

In just two seasons, Dalton ranks second at TCU in career pass completions with 404 and completion percentage at 59.6. He is third with 4,701 passing yards.

Dalton ranked second in the Mountain West Conference and 33rd nationally last season with 243.1 yards per game of total offense.

Over the final six games in 2008, Dalton completed 60.9 percent of his passes for 11 touchdowns with just three interceptions. He averaged 237.3 yards per game in the air.

Dalton was TCU's third-leading rusher with 432 yards while placing second with eight touchdowns.
