Vasectomy has been long known as one of the contraceptive in men. Then, what advantages and disadvantages of doing a vasectomy?

The following narrative Prof. Dr. Dr. Wahyuning Ramelan SpAnd (K) of the UB Women & Children's Hospital, London:

Profit

- Vasectomy is a minor surgery that is safe, highly effective and permanent.

- Well done on men who did not want to have kids.

- No need to use a condom every routine of having sex or other security for both husband and wife.

- Vasectomy is cheaper and fewer complications than tubal sterilization.

- Do not affect a man's ability to enjoy sexual relations.

Loss

- There is little pain and discomfort a few days after surgery, but this pain usually can be lost with the consumption of soft drugs. Also there is a sense of slight discomfort when urinating.

- Often have to compress the ice for four hours to reduce swelling, bleeding and discomfort and have to wear pants that can support the bag (scrotum) for two days.

- Operation not effective immediately. To be safe, patients are required to wear a condom first. To know is sterile or not, is usually performed 20-30 times microscopic examination after ejaculation.

- Vasectomy does not provide protection against sexually transmitted infections including HIV.

- Regret after vasectomy is greater if the man was still under the age of 25 years, there has been a divorce or have children who died.
