From TCU Media Relations: The Texas Associated Press Broadcasters have recognized the TCU Sports Network by IMG for providing the state's best live sports play-by-play in 2010 for its call on the Horned Frogs' 45-10 football victory over Baylor.
It's the second time in the last three years that TCU's radio crew of play-by-play voice Brian Estridge, color analyst John Denton and sideline reporter Jeff Williams have received the honor. They were also cited in 2008 for their work on TCU's 32-7 win over BYU.
"We have a Rose Bowl championship football program and a radio broadcast crew that's also Rose Bowl champion quality," TCU director of intercollegiate athletics Chris Del Conte said. "Brian, John and Jeff are TCU treasures. They have established an incredible rapport with their audience. We are delighted to see them properly recognized for their outstanding work."
TCU's radio broadcasts originate from flagship station WBAP 820 AM and 96.7 FM.
"Brian, John and Jeff complement each other perfectly, putting the listener on the sidelines and giving them a great feel for the excitement of the game," WBAP operations manager Tyler Cox said.
The TAPB is a non-profit organization comprised of the various Texas radio and television stations who subscribe to the Associated Press wire service. The competition is divided by market size. TCU competes in the major market category of college and professional broadcasts.
The TAPB, in conjunction with similar groups in other states, organize and conduct contests and present awards for outstanding achievements in the field. Presented annually at the group's convention, these awards deliver well-deserved praise from a community of peers.
TCU's trio of Estridge, Denton and Williams will be presented their award at the TAPB Convention on April 16 at the Dallas Marriott Quorum.
