This story was a big buzz for Frog fans last night as this piece of news was first heard from Newy Scruggs on the NBC telecast. Newy didn’t give a lot of details though. This left Frog fans wondering if he was referencing the extension Patterson signed in January to stay at TCU through 2014, or if there was something new brewing.

Well, it looks like there is something new in the works…

TCU and Coach Gary Patterson have agreed to terms on a long-term contract extension, according to a source close to the situation. An official announcement is expected Wednesday morning.

The source said part of the agreement includes pay increases for his assistant coaches.

Patterson, in his 12th season at TCU and ninth as head coach, has an 85-27 record in his tenure. That includes TCU's 12-0 record this season, the school's first undefeated campaign since 1938.

This is great news for Horned Frog fans. TCU has to do all they can to keep Patterson in Ft. Worth, and it looks as if that is exactly what they are doing.

People on the outside are always quick to say that “Patterson is leaving soon” or “you small schools have no chance in keeping your coach.” I think this goes to show that TCU wants Patterson and Gary wants to be at TCU. Gary Patterson has had chances to leave in the past and didn’t, and I don’t see him leaving Ft. Worth any time soon.
