CollegeFootballNews.com has named TCU defensive end Jerry Hughes a first-team All-American with quarterback Andy Dalton and punt returner Jeremy Kerley receiving honorable mention All-America accolades.

Hughes, the 2009 Lott Trophy and Ted Hendricks Award winner, is just the second two-time consensus All-American at TCU (Darrell Lester, 1934-35) and the first in the Mountain West Conference.

Hughes has 15 tackles for loss, including 11 1/2 sacks, among a career-high 54 stops this season. The Sugar Land, Texas, native is key in TCU leading the nation in defense for the fourth time in the last 10 seasons.

Also a finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Rotary Lombardi Award and Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, Hughes received a Local Hero Award from Bank of America for his community involvement.

Dalton, also an honorable-mention All-American by SI.com, is the Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Year. He ranks fourth in the nation in passing efficiency with a 159.59 rating and is one of 10 finalists for the Manning Award, honoring the nation's top quarterback.

Dalton, who received votes for the Heisman Trophy, has completed a TCU single-season record 62.4 percent of his passes with 22 touchdowns and just five interceptions. He is fourth on the Horned Frogs with 522 yards rushing on a 4.9 per carry mark.

Only a junior, Dalton has 29 career victories as a starting quarterback to tie Slingin' Sammy Baugh (1934-36) for the most in TCU history.

Kerley has made a third All-America team. He was a Rivals.com second-team selection and a Pro Football Weekly honorable-mention pick.

Kerley has returned two punts for touchdowns and tops the Mountain West Conference in both punt return (14.3 yards) and kickoff return (26.9 yards) average. He's one of only two players in the country (Javier Arenas, Alabama) to rank in the top 20 nationally in both categories.

A junior from Hutto, Texas, Kerley also tops TCU with 38 receptions.
