Conference champion and BCS-bound TCU had a league-high 19 players earn All-Mountain West Conference honors while nearly sweeping the individual awards.

Quarterback Andy Dalton and defensive end Jerry Hughes were named the MWC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively. Hughes became only the third student-athlete in league history to be a two-time Defensive Player of the Year. Jeremy Kerley was tabbed the Special Teams Player of the Year, while Gary Patterson was selected Coach of the Year.

Hughes and Kerley (return specialist) were unanimous first-team All-MWC selections. Kerley was also honorable-mention All-MWC at wide receiver.

Joining Dalton on the first-team offense were tackles Marcus Cannon and Marshall Newhouse.

Hughes, linebacker Daryl Washington and cornerbacks Rafael Priest and Nick Sanders were first-team selections on defense. Ross Evans was the first-team choice at placekicker.

TCU's nine first-team selections tie an MWC record set by Colorado State in 2000.

Center Jake Kirkpatrick, tailback Joseph Turner, linebacker Tank Carder, defensive end Wayne Daniels, defensive tackle Cory Grant and safety Tejay Johnson represented TCU on the All-MWC second team.

Tight end Evan Frosch, wide receivers Antoine Hicks and Jimmy Young and tailback Ed Wesley were honorable-mention picks.

For the fourth time in its five seasons of MWC play, TCU topped all league members in all-conference selections. This year's 19 players and 20 selections (with Kerley at two different positions) is a school record. With Kerley, TCU has now had the first-team return specialist in all five seasons it has been in the MWC.

Eight starters on TCU's defense received All-MWC accolades. The Horned Frogs, despite losing three starters to the NFL off last season's top-ranked defense, are second nationally in allowing just 233.3 yards per game. TCU narrowly trails Florida (233.1).

Dalton ranks sixth nationally in pass efficiency rating at 159.6. His 62.4 completion percentage is on pace for a TCU single-season record. He's thrown for a career-high 2,484 yards with 22 touchdowns and just five interceptions. He was a three-time MWC Offensive Player of the Week in 2009.

Dalton, receiving votes for the Heisman Trophy and a Manning Award finalist, is TCU's first conference offensive player of the year since LaDainian Tomlinson in 1999 and 2000.

Hughes is a finalist for the Lott Trophy, Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Rotary Lombardi Award and Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. He tops the Horned Frogs with 15 tackles for loss, including 11 1/2 sacks. Hughes is fourth on TCU with a career-high 54 stops.

Kerley tops the MWC in both punt return (14.3 yards) and kickoff return (26.9 yards) average. He returned two punts for touchdowns this season. Kerley is the first non-kicker to be voted MWC Special Teams Player of the Year since the inception of the award in 2006. He is also the first Horned Frog to earn conference special teams player of the year recognition since placekicker Nick Browne in 2003.

Patterson, one of three finalists for the George Munger Award honoring the nation's top collegiate coach, has led TCU to the first 12-0 record in program history. The Horned Frogs, fourth in the BCS standings, captured the MWC title for the second time in their five seasons in the league. It's the third conference coach of the year accolade for Patterson, who won similar honors in 2002 and 2005.

Newhouse and Priest were named All-MWC for the third time in their careers. Both were honorable mention as sophomores in 2007, second team last year and first team this season.

Eleven Frogs (Carder, Daniels, Evans, Frosch, Grant, Hicks, Johnson, Kirkpatrick, Turner, Washington and Wesley) received All-MWC honors for the first time.

Wesley, third on TCU with 630 yards rushing on a 6.4 per carry average, is the first TCU freshman to be All-MWC since fellow tailback Aaron Brown in 2005.
